My 14-Hour Search for the End of TGI Friday's Endless Appetizers

For the Get in Mah Belly Lounge:

Quote:
Last Monday TGI Friday's unveiled a new promotion (available at many TGI Friday's locations, but none on the island of Manhattan) whereby customers can gorge themselves on unlimited appetizers—without fear of punishment, embarrassment, or ostracization—for a one-time payment of $10. The promotion is called "Endless Appetizers."

The day after "Endless Appetizers" was announced, I went to TGI Friday's in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Sheepshead Bay. I wanted to challenge the hubris of a company co-opting the infinite for a marketing gimmick. I wanted to demand accountability from copywriters.

I wanted to call their bluff and eat appetizers until they kicked me out, to seek the limit of this supposedly limitless publicity stunt.

I soon learned the limit does not exist.

He only ate 7 orders in 13 hours? That's not such a big deal.

Yeah, but that's lame for a chick too. They should have sent Rosie O'Donnell in there and destroyed it.

To her credit, she said that they tasted like garbage during the first order, so it's not like she was enjoying it. She very quickly regretted her choice of appetizer.

It was also the equivalent of 5,867 calories.

Still reading this while experiencing my own personal version of restaurant hell. I'm in a fleabag hotel in Detroit courtesy of a missed Delta connection. I slept probably three hours in the last 30 and that was in a plane seat and am relatively awake due to China jet lag.

My flight was delayed due to someone flushing and inappropriate object down the airplane toilet.

Do we need to give a who wants to be a millionaire style IQ test in order to be able to fly these days?

Which object is okay to flush down a airplane toilet?

A. Blue jeans
B. toilet paper
C. Dog
D. Billiard ball
