I'll place my guess on: Nuke test suffers catastrophic 'failure' at launch and destroys chunk of NK.

We did see an unfortunate launch pad explosion with SpaceX recently, so it does happen.

I bet it happens a lot more often when you're a piss ant country trying to threaten the US with nukes.

That butterball would end up being the victim of a coup or something before he ever stepped to us.

The average person there is brainwashed but their military brass must know that we could bomb the whole country into detroit in just a couple of days.

OK, it's clear that with an 8-alarm fire, he might have bombed Overland Park.

This is true, but it wouldn't do Japan or South Korea any good if he got a couple launched first.
(That part about Detroit is gold, man!! )

Also, I read somewhere years ago. In the event of a North/South war, if no other countries get involved, that the South would likely overrun the North in something like 2 days. I'm sure this was pre- nuclear North. I remember the article talking about the Norths superiority in numbers, but the south had a huge technology advantage. Anyway's just something I read that is likely outdated now.

Taking a quick break from my social media break because I thought cp would find this interesting. Lo and behold, there's a thread devoted to this so perfect timing.

Terrific Vice article about North Korea. It's the most thorough I've seen on how to handle the threat and I think it's pretty politically neutral. And way more complicated than suggesting we just take him out.

I think it was the reverse, that the North would probably overrun much of the South in just a few days because of their huge advantage in numbers, but when ROK was able to organize a response and intervention came from abroad, the North would never stand a chance.

Assuming China is on board. Which they won't be. China is the toughest chess piece.
