I would think Notre Dame would be in that mix.

Here are your conference championship games:

Big East: none

Big 12: none

ACC: Florida State vs Georgia Tech (6-6)

B1G: Nebraska vs Wisconsin (7-5 and third place in their division)

PAC 12: Stanford vs UCLA (9-3)

SEC: Alabama vs Georgia

One good game in the bunch.

The Big 12 may be close to inviting 6 schools.

Guy Jones ‏ @TheGuyOfUConn
Those 6 schools would be Florida State, Clemson, North Carolina, Duke, Connecticut, and San Diego State.
WTF?

Now...on the basketball side, it would make for some good matchups and make the Big 12 the premier BB conference.

The only so-called "insider" at the WVU boards who has never posted anything that looked obviously reeruned (eerlaw), posted this today:

Quote:
I have not been as confident about the total failure of the ACC as some of the other "insiders". There are reasons for this and felt I should share. Maybe I am looking at this wrong and wanted to get opinions based on information that has been passed on to me.

UNC has lobbied for inclusion into the B1G. However, they are currently at the forefront of trying to keep the ACC together by promoting the grant of rights. importance that no one else is considering? Well UNC stays then NC State stays.

Clemson is still not on board with leaving the ACC no matter how many want to believe they have changed their tune from a few months ago.

VT has talked to the SEC but has also stated that they would not be first to leave AND would sign the GOR IF UVA did the same.

FSU has made demands that seem unreasonable to say the least, ie, unequal revenue sharing and ND as full member. What happens IF (and I can't stress if enough) this happens.

Majority of schools have agreed to sign grant of rights with additions of two more schools as it allows the renegotiation of the ESPN contract. IF ESPN fails to give ACC what they desire there are other networks that can step in (though unlikely). NBC has some money and Notre Dame.

To counter this skepticism :

UVA has put a lot of emphasis on research money. Currently VT makes TONS more in research money than does UVA. (VT was just awarded $50 million grant for underwater research by Navy). B1G research money is unmatched by any other conference.

FSU is not happy about the possible inclusion of UConn

Most schools are not keen on UL.

We all know the obvious money discrepancy between power conferences and ACC

Fox is willing to pony up for Big 12 expansion

With all this said am I just ignoring the obvious or does the ACC and slick Swoffie have a chance?

Huge, massive, earth-shattering realignment news today, breaking right now. The ripples from this move will be felt for years.

Are you ready? Maybe you need to sit down first. OK, here we go:

Tulane is joining the Big East.

Instant reaction from another message board:

Go home, Big East. You're drunk.

Might sound ridiculous, but could be a precursor to something big. Keep hearing rumors about SDSU pulling out of the Big East and they've been talking to the Big 12.

Laugh if you want, but SD is a large TV market, it opens up recruiting to Socal a little more for Big 12 teams, and it would provide an easy 10 pm Eastern time slot for football games in the conference to challenge the PAC12 for Football TV ratings on Saturdays.
