What would cause you to go into post-draft meltdown?

After hearing all the draft speculation and watching this season of free agency, I can be fairly confident that things aren't going to be done the way I would do them. That leads me to believe that I'm going to have to prepare myself for the eventual feeling of being kicked in the junk at the end of this weekend. What would Carl have to do in the draft/around the draft to cause you to go completely ballistic?

Drafting Erasmus Jones. I never even heard of the guy before this morning, yet some writer thinks he's a possibility in the first round.

You definitely called your shot with the Easy Pick, Titus.

I don't think I'm going to sit around and watch the draft this year. I think if its a nice day, I'll fish, pick up mushrooms and drink some beer with my brothers. I'll pop in to see who I should be cussing about when time permits or piss breaks.

not getting a cornerback at some point

either a cornerback in the 1st round or Patrick Surtain or both.

i would think drafting a Tightend or Running back in either of the first 2 rounds wouldn't do much for my attitude either.

i just want them to be aware of our serious needs at cornerback and linebacker AND HAVE some kind of real plan.

Any position other than CB, DE or LB, and I'll ... well, I don't know what I'll do, but it won't be pretty.

VARSITY
I just want our first couple of picks to be guys who are proven, every-down high performers at their positions, and their positions are something other than running back, tight end, or defensive tackle. No niche players, no projects.

I would be happy if those picks were at cornerback, linebacker, or even defensive end. I would grimace a bit if they were at other positions, but wouldn't melt down as long as it was an opportunity to get a great value at QB, WR, or OT, or a player like Thomas Davis who is a "special case."

Yeah, it was weird that happened because I picked the last FB listed as an NFL prospect that a few draftniks noted he lacked speed and size. The irony was too much...

It's supposed to do nothing but rain this weekend around here, so there wont be much to do but watch the draft.

I hope they do get the CB everyone wants, but history tells me that's not going to happen. I wouldnt be suprised to see WR at 15.

Actually, getting a stud DE would help significantly -- it takes pressure of the LBs in run coverage and, as the all-knowing Gaz has pointed out, pass defense starts in the enemy backfield.

That being said, Erasmus James would NOT be the right pick. I saw at least four Wisconsin games last year and while the guy's got a non-stop motor and can get after the QB, but he's too agressive and is a liability against the run.

Pollack is an interesting choice -- he's a bit of a tweener (too light for DE and perhaps too small for OLB in a 3-4), but his attitude and playmaking ability are impressive.

Things that will make me melt down...

1) Not getting Surtain.

2) Drafting something other than a CB or OLB (or maybe a DE)

3) Drafting Erasmus James or Mike Williams, specifically

I'm really not going to be happy unless we get Surtain on Friday night and then draft either Rogers, Davis, Pollack, or somehow manage to get Rolle or Johnson.

That's where I am at as well. CP has toyed with us for the past month at the notion of trading for Surtain, I will be beyond furious if he does not make the trade.

the chiefs made a big mistake by painting us into a corner

they didn't fullfill either the teams linebacker needs or the cornerback needs fully in the offseason.

now we are stuck with two big needs going into the draft.

outside linebacker and cornerback

hard to fill both with one draft ... a difficult position

I fully anticipate a trade down in Round 1 to aquire an additional 2nd, and make the move for Surtain.
