Today 12/27 Mel Kiper says.......
Mel says Mike Glennon will be the first QB taken in the 2013 draft and he could be picked in the top 10. He says alot of things could and will change as the draft approaches but as of right now he thinks the Chiefs should trade out of the top spot if they can and if they can't they should take Luke Joeckel with the first pick. He also say the Jaguars should trade down also but if they can't they should take a DE with their first pick.

Honestly the only reason anyone knows Mel Kiper's name is because he was the first guy doing this on TV. If he had to break into that job today, he'd get laughed off of the internet.

Now he just tries to stay conservative to keep his job. There are better draft guys on TV. Hell, you can find better guys on your average draft website, and I'm sure few of them have access to the film Kiper has.

Okay, let's say we spot him Newton, who I wasn't terribly fond of either. Was there any other QB that year worth taking that high?

Locker? Ponder? Dalton? In hindsight, Kaepernick is likely to be a very good one, but you're full of shit if you try to claim you were on board with taking him in the top 5.

I mean hell, look at how loaded the top of that draft was. Miller, Green, Peterson, Jones, Smith and Watt are all insanely good. Newton is clearly the only person that belongs in that class of players and even then, Miller, Green, Smith and Watt are arguably more valuable. And Mayock was hardly alone on not like Newton.

What I'm trying to say is that he really didn't miss by much, did he? He believed Gabbert could be developed to overcome shortcomings that he clearly identified - it didn't happen (and the Jags are at least partially responsible for that).

It wasn't a JaMarcus Russel will be the next Elway style ****up...

I'd venture to say solid QB play would have won quite a few more games this season.

That's 30 TO's right there. Granted not all of them were their faults, but let's face it, it's amazing that they kept the games as close as they did considering that seemingly everytime the defense took the field it was either short or they were tired because the offense just went 3nOut for the 4th time that half.
