INSANITY Workout – any CP Insanity veterans in here??

So my daughter says to me the other day…. “Hey Dad, you said you were going to get back to working again right? Let’s buy Insanity and do it together.” So I said (having no friggin idea what Insanity IS)…. “Sure. Sounds great.”
Well now I’m doing some research on it and I’m actually a little sick to my stomach. She’s a 6 foot solid muscled 18 year old (that somehow thinks she’s out of shape….women!) and I’m a 6 foot 250 lb 46 year old for Gods sake! I mean….I’m not a blob or anything. I’m pretty active....OK fairly active. I can still bust some moves on a basketball court…..I just gotta play the half court game now you know? I hit the treadmill from time to time. But for crying out loud what I’m reading about this workout is scaring the crap outta me! I’m really not sure I’ll be able to do this. Anyone went through this thing? This frigging workout is gonna show up in the mail any day now and……gulp…..I’m a-scairt!

speaking of pushing it to the limit....took the two week fit test this morning. damn! that thing is a beezatch. I kicked my previous numbers in the teeth. not sure how much it had to do with having a specific number to try to beat vs being in better shape though. I'm sure I am in better shape than two weeks ago....however I'm very competitive and I HAD to beat each number. I really did have to push myself to the absolute limit to beat some of them. gonna be a real bear to beat todays numbers in two weeks!

I lost a full week due to the cold. (too sick to go for 3 days, then figured may as well sit out the other 4 to get my off day back where I wanted it)

Halfway through week two on my first of two "month 1"'s (repeating month one in april after vacation) Recovery workout tomorrow!

I sprung for one of those fancy little heart monitors. Now I stop whenever I get above my 90% rate (roughly above 170) and I get back in when I'm somewhere in the 150's. Aside from all that safety garbage, this might be a solid undeniable way to track my progress, if it starts to take a lot longer to get the rate up too high, then I know the cardio's working.

Still here, had the "easy" day today, but legs are going to be sore tomorrow morning.

The "easy" Cardio recovery workout merely means no cardio, your heart rate wont be redlined at all, but holy crap does he ever hit the stretches and the leg-work early and often, just finished a near-infinite number of squats and lunges.

I started it Monday, did the workout Tuesday and got the stomach flu Tuesday night. Didn't do it last night, but started again tonight.

The cardio plyo circuit really tore up my knees (arthritis) and feet (plantar faciitis). The Cardio Power and Resistance felt better, but I hope it doesn't get too bad that I have to stop. My calves are really hurting. I'm worried about my shin splints coming back too.

I kind of like the workouts, but the stretching part of this is really a joke. I think someone mentioned it awhile back. I'm going to have to get some warmup and stretching going before I start this.

The bottom line though, is that I am a worthless pile of shit. I thought I would fare a little better than this. I know I'm out of shape but damn, my performance is downright depressing.

I started it and did the first week...then the second week because of job and other stuff, I was doing it every other day, sometimes 2 days with no work out.
Do you think I should start over with the first week or continue on?...for the next 6 days I have nothing going on, so I could get the second week in with no breaks.
What does everybody think?

You'll be fine either way. Missed workouts & small breaks won't hurt you. I would probably just continue through the program. The key to getting benefits from this is doing it consistently over time. (That includes the nutrition side)

I feel for you. I got plantar fasciitis while I was in the middle of p90x AND my busy tournament season. I found some shoe inserts that helped me press on, but it was brutal. Good luck.

Not counting the knees and the feet, but the actual muscle pain all I can say is not matter how much you hurt, make sure you do the workout. From doing crossfit for 2 years, I would always be in pain if I took a little time off, but if you don't work out the next day, but wait till the pain is over, then workout again, the pain will never really go away. You just have to sack up and take it, eventually your body will get used to being physical and the pain will stop.

I can't wait for Monday, I'm really excited to start this excercise routine.
