Toyota FJ Cruiser or Dodge Nitro - Page 2

A couple weeks ago I posted asking about Hummer H3's. **** 'em. Now I've narrowed my search for a bad@$$, non-family-truckster-looking SUV down to these two. The Dodge Nitro is just debuting this fall and I haven't actually seen any in person yet, though some have been reviewed by regular peeps, so they must be out there somewhere. Any expertise on either or both of these rides???

Agreed...that thing is butt-ugly. The FJ, on the other hand, has a kind of quirky look that I like.

Exactly, I'll never own another fuc&ing dodge (my dad's words exactly when I told him I'd bought it). I had a 99 Durango with the "heavy duty" towing package. 5.9l V8 and option rear-end ratio. It was my wife's truck and never towed or went offroad. The transmission went out at 59k miles of soccer mom duty. First, and last, chrysler product I will ever own.

Yep. My neighbor has one of their minivans. Not even 60K miles on it and its in the shop A LOT.

An important consideration is what the FJ stands for. It would be embarrassing to buy it and then later find out that it stands for "Freaking Jerk" or "Frenulum Jockey".

I had a Toyota that owned me, I did not own it. I had a Misubishi that owned me. My daughter had a Honda that owned me.
I have owned over 40 Chrysler products, never had the problems that the Jap cars had.

I guess if you’re a 14 year old boy into anime or a cheerleader / sorority girl the FJ is for you.

Don’t buy the crap about the Dodge tranny; I’ve seen several Dodges go well over 200,000 miles on one tranny.

Hell my dad ran his Dodge truck for over 300,000 city driving (he owned a paper route for the Star) on the same tranny.

I would go with the Dodge it has a lot more testosterone and style.
