***Official Draft Tyler Wilson Thread****

...might as well get this started early.

Perhaps his injury well allow him to slip to the middle of the of the 1st round,..where we tend to draft.

That is true. Let me put it this way:

Prior to this CBA, there was one reason not to reach for a QB - money.

Now, there is NO reason not to reach for a QB.

I'm just saying that people say with the old CBA you couldn't reach for a QB, which teams usually didn't because of the money, but even then it was stupid.

Say you took the WR, or the ILB, or the DL and he becomes the best player at his position. Can that win you a SB?

Look at Fitz, or Ngata, or Willis.

The faster your teams figures out that you START by building around the QB and don't stop until you get the QB right, the closer you are to being an elite team.

So many Chiefs fans have yet to understand that... even though it's painfully obvious that this team has been killed by dreadful QB play over the last years.

Nick Jacobs ‏@Jacobs71
In Wilsons first series 2 crosses 1 against blitz, flats pass, quick screen, quick comeback, bootleg hit back in stride.

Nick Jacobs ‏@Jacobs71
The 2nd series Wilson made his bonehead mistake quota by under throwing a ball off his back foot in double coverage for INT.

Nick Jacobs ‏@Jacobs71
Wilson did a good job going through his reads before escaping the pocket. He kept it consistent in escapes.

Nick Jacobs ‏@Jacobs71
Wilson had 3 huge conversions in the game one on 3rd down, one on 4th down and a deep post in the clutch with 7 seconds left.

Nick Jacobs ‏@Jacobs71
Wilson did miss a wide open WR down the left seam and stared down the quick throw on the right side. Safety came up so would have been TD.

Nick Jacobs ‏@Jacobs71
On Wilson's TD drive he had a great ball on a deep in and perfectly placed ball on vertical route for a TD. CB had no idea it was coming.

Nick Jacobs ‏@Jacobs71
Yesterday Wilson was forced to show NFL type speed. He had to go through progressions quick. Once the back foot hit make a decision.

Nick Jacobs ‏@Jacobs71
He had to drive the ball and get it out quick. And had to make some back shoulders based on coverage. Defense forced him to throw crosses.

Nick Jacobs ‏@Jacobs71
Wilson only forced two passes. He made solid decisions against a great LSU defense and okay blocking from OL.

Nick Jacobs ‏@Jacobs71
Wilson Positives: yesterday he got to show his consistency on cross, outs and comebacks. He showed some clutch throws and decisiveness.

Nick Jacobs ‏@Jacobs71
Wilson Negatives: He missed a read for a TD and threw off his back foot on an INT forcing it into double coverage.

I want to like him more than I do. All of these QB's have done some nice things, i just don't think any of them have done them consistently enough to say, "That's the guy, right there".

Tyler's ball placement in this game was all over the place. He made a handful of nice plays, but the rest was dinking and dunking the short game.

I just wish one of these QB's woulda came out and grabbed the 1st overall by the balls....

Well if I remember correctly. Tyler is playing in the senior bowl so he is not afraid to show case his talents. We will know more about who is going to go number 1 after the combine and senior bowl. I actually want Tyler over Geno and think he will end up being the better quarterback.

Tyler Wilson is a tough MF'er. I have zero concerns about his durability issues.

Uh huh. He's tough. He takes some big hits.

But it leaves me to wonder why he takes such huge hits.

It's easy to blame it on the O-line, but i have to wonder if he's not reading the defense properly or adjusting to the blitz. Is he not adjusting his protections? Does he even see the blitz coming?

Have to take all of that into consideration....

I don't think that's the case, but if it is those are coachable. Being a bad ass is not.

In that system (Petrino's at UOFA) the Qb has always taken hits. Mallett took alot of big hits as well.

The system is a one that has alot of longer developing route combinations.

Well it didn't help that we started 2 walk-ons on the OL. Petrino ran a really complicated blocking scheme that required them to learn both sides of the line. After we lost our starting tackle DeMarcus Love to the Vikings its been really bad, which was right after mallett left. Most feel like our OL coach isn't very good.

Yep.

I've had Geno and Wilson as my 1/2 pretty much all along.

The guy I've come around on is Barkley. He's not anywhere near the other two in my eyes but I really want a good QB and I think Barkley can be that.

Isn't Barkley basically Chad Pennington?

He did show some spunk under pressure late in the year which helped a lot in my eyes but still ...

No. He's not Chad Pennington.

Barkley can't drive the ball down the field with his arm but he can make the intermediate throws.

No Pennington had a stronger arm coming out of college. His arm strength was never the greatest but he didn't have the arm issues until after the shoulder issues. Not to mention Pennington was a much more cerebral than Barkley.
