True... but, we had a great weapon with Hillis - the fact that McD found no use for him is a huge statement on his inabilities. Cutler is solid, sure he makes mistakes and isn't really fan-friendly, but he's good. Marshall... it's hard to fault them now for trading him.

I can't disagree with knowmo that it has worked out nicely in the end for Denver though.

Had the Broncos not been able to get Manning their starting QB would have been Tebow. I like the guy, but he has a long way to go to be an elite QB. They got rid of a young franchise QB (which the Chiefs fan base would kill for) for practically peanuts. Marshall was a head case no doubt, but he was an elite talent. In a QB driven league you don't get rid of a young franchise QB unless you can't resign him or you get a better young one to replace him. The players gained do not offset the loss of a franchise QB like Cutler, and that is without throwing in a Top 5-10 receiver like Marshall. Denver lost more than they gained. It is not as obvious because they ended up getting Manning.

Hopefully Manning is the chosen one that Denver fans hope he is. How often does a team chance on a player of his caliber? The stars had to align just right in order for it to happen. Just because of that does not change the post I made nor does it change the fact that Denver lost those trades overall.

As the Broncos concluded minicamp, they did so knowing QB Peyton Manning had passed a major test in his recovery from neck surgeries by completing deep passes during OTAs and minicamp the last two weeks.
