Dear Mr. Scott Pioli,

Here is your final chance. Don't blow it.

You have been given one last chance to redeem yourself, even though you do not necessarily deserve it. You have been given a mulligan, an ace in the hole, a way out. This is your final opportunity to save your job, as well as that of your head coach, Romeo Crennel. Just as Dungver ridded themselves of Tim Tebow in the only way that would not lead to a revolt, you can do the same now.

You have spent the last four years betting on a quarterback, Matt Cassel, who is simply not qualified for the job. This is unfortunate for Chiefs' fans as well as said quarterback, Matt Cassel. We do not want to hate Cassel. We all would have loved nothing more than to have seen him develop into Tom Brady part 2. But it just has not happened and it will not happen.

You can use the injury to Matt Cassel as an excuse to finally move on from him. Since it is an injury and "not" because of performance issues, you can move on without completely contradicting your own ego, which you mistakenly believe rests with the success of Cassel. Whether you like it or not, your future now rests on the shoulders of one Brady Quinn. This is the man you brought in to backup Cassel and also serve as "competition" at the quarterback competition. Irony abound, you must now rely on someone to save your job which you never intended on having set foot on the field in a meaningful snap.

It has finally been made so crystal clear, that even you cannot deny it, Matt Cassel does not have the skillset to continue being the starting quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs. You must now see this and you must now use this opportunity to finally let the fans know you are paying attention. You do not have to formally admit a mistake in sticking with Cassel for so long. It is okay. We will not demand it from you. We understand your desperate need to appear wiser than all. We will silently nod our heads in agreement and approve of the change as to not further embarrass you or the organization. Just know that we know in our minds and in our hearts that you are finally admitting a mistake by sticking with Cassel for so long. But it bears repeating, we will silently accept it. Not because we support you. No. No. No. That is not the case at all. We will accept it because we are comforted by the fact that your fate with the organization will no longer rests in your hands. It will rests on the shoulders and right arm of one man. You wanted Brady Quinn? You got him.

Perhaps Brady Quinn has been humbled by his experience so far in the NFL. It happens. Some guys come into the league with a feelinng of invincibility. If they also lack maturity to continue to work hard and build upon their success in college, and not rely solely upon it, they will experience the lowest of the lows a quarterback can possibly have...backing up Tim Tebow.

You must allow Coach Crennel to do what we all know he wants, which is to give Brady Quinn the starting quarterback job for the remainder of the season. It may or may not work out, but it would finally signify that you are moving on from Cassel. To allow Matt Cassel to start another game for the Chiefs is to commit career suicide. The only way you assure yourself of not being employed as the general manager of the Chiefs next year is to let Cassel return as the starting quarterback. As it is, you may not return anyways, but the only chance you do have at returning is by starting Brady Quinn. He if excels, you look smart for picking up a guy off the trash heap. If he fails, you can beg for your job to Clark Hunt at season's end, in which case you promise to draft a legitimate first round quarterback talent. One thing is for sure, if you force the hand of the coaches and Matt Cassel continues to start, you will not even get the opportunity to beg for your job and make that pick in the draft for the Chiefs.

So the question to you is this: Matt Cassel fell on a sword today. He sacrificed himself to save the team for this season, as well as future seasons. He saw and opportunity and he took it. He is begging you to relieve him of his duties which he clearly cannot perform up to an adequate level to meet our satisfaction or even his own. It is unfair to continue to ask him to do something which he cannot do. Matt Cassel is not a bad person, he is just a bad football player. He can no longer endure the constant ridicule, humiliation, and embarrassment. He wants and needs you to pull the plug on his time as the starting quarterback for our beloved Kansas City Chiefs. So, will you leave the sword in it's place which Cassel knowlingly put there, or will you do everything you can to save Matt Cassel, even though it is against his will?

Sincerely,

mr. tegu and Kansas City Chiefs fans everywhere.

We're f'd this season. And I seem to be in the minority here just from reading posts recently, but I'm not convinced Pioli can't turn this thing around. I think two things are certain; 1. you need a top -caliber QB to compete in this league, and 2. Romeo is in over his head.

I do think Romeo can be a successful DC, but he's not cutting it trying to be our HC and DC at the same time. And I doubt he'd accept a demotion and stick around as our DC, so with the change that has to happen and letting the new HC choose his staff, Romeo's time is up.

I also think that if you simply replace our current QB situation with a top-10 NFL QB we immediately become the favorite to win the division and maybe even have enough talent to win a playoff game.

Those two changes would renew my interest for next season. But to this original post, yeah that was just dumb. The fans aren't going to take much more, and the almighty dollar drives everything, and if something doesn't happen the fact Clark will start losing money will force his hand ultimately.

Yeah and he has one last one to cling to. He probably won't take it anyways. The whole point is that Pioli only has a very slim chance of returning next season, but his ONLY chance will be with Quinn. If he goes with Cassel he is basically saying he is going down with the ship. I wouldn't think Pioli would abide by some kind of code of honor to stick with Cassel through the end of the season. When push comes to shove, despite his obsession with Cassel, even Pioli has to know it's now or never for him to let RAC not start Cassel. He probably couldn't do it on his own, but with Cassel's injury he can sell it as Quinn playing because of injury, not because of Cassel's poor play.

You think Pioli can turn it around? The only way he gets that chance is if he cuts ties with Cassel now. That's the point. Like you said, as Clark loses more money he will be forced to make a decision. What do you think will cause Clark to lose the most money? Cassel starting or Quinn?

JFC. A MONUMENTAL FAIL at QB. 2 ****ing terrible head coaches in 4 years, and a ****ton of different coordinators. A litany of terrible, shit eating draft picks. Paranoia. Phone tapping. CANDY WRAPPERS!!! This guy has GOT to go. He's got. To. Go. He's been a ****ing plague on this place from the time he showed up.

I know it's hard. I know it is. We just did all of this when Carl was fired. But it's necessary. If not, it will get much, much worse before it gets better. Right now, we just need to fill a few pieces. Much longer, and we will be forced to completely rebuild all over again, like we began to do with Carl, and Herm.

If Pioli doesn't allow a new QB to play the fan revolt will continue exponentially. If however, he wants even the slightest chance at retaining his job, he will allow Quinn to play. It is looking more and more like a slight chance, but a new starter at QB signifies the team moving on from Cassel which in turn represents his only chance, no matter how small it may be. Anyone can see we need to move on from Cassel asap, even Clark, so if that doesn't happen, rest assured Pioli will be guaranteed.

So you have to ask yourself, would you rather see Cassel play knowing Pioli will be gone? Or would you rather see a new QB come Sunday even though it is Pioli's last lifeline?

I'd rather see Cassel play if it means Pioli is gone. There's zero chance a new GM will keep Cassel.

I firmly believe that Pioli will bring Cassel back no matter what, so I don't want to give him any chances.
