If not #1, where?

The draftniks keep saying that Geno Smith isn't worth the #1 pick.
None of them say he isn't the top QB in the class though.
If we don't take him at #1 how far is he realistically going to fall?

I see no scenario where he falls out of the Top 10.

So if he's the top QB in a weak class...
QB is our biggest need...
And he's gonna go Top 10 anyway...

Why not at #1?

Am I wrong to say he won't fall out of the Top 10?

Discuss...

Good grief no. That's some insanely revisionist history colored with hindsight. Albert maybe. But not Dorsey. Dorsey was extremely highly touted. Many thought he'd go at 3 to the Falcons instead of Ryan, and he was in the discussion for the #1 pick. Most people, inside and outside of Kansas City, thought it was a coup that he dropped to us, that we were incredibly lucky. In no way, shape or form was there even a discussion about taking Flacco there. Flacco went exactly where he should have.

(I say this as a guy who really likes Flacco)

Anyway, that's really irrelevant to the discussion. Smith is a much better prospect than Flacco. And there's no Dorsey in this draft.

If we want to talk QB in that draft, in a perfect world we either trade up to Atlanta and take Ryan ourselves, or they take Dorsey, nobody trades up to #4, and Ryan drops to us.

a no brainer in my mind

more realistic that Andy trades for Kevin Kobb and accumulates draft picks to stock the whole roster and then keeps his eye out for another franchise QB
AFTER he drafted McNabb #2 overall, which was a reach in my mind at the time because McNabb was awful had he not run for so many first downs & TD's in college. When he started playing under Reid, we heard how Reid coached McNabb hard to stop with the tuck and run. Reid made McNabb into a pocket passer, but it took 5 years before McNabb finally became a disciplined QB at this level under Reid's WCO system. Then, the accuracy began to show.

I've heard from more than one person Reid is not a guy that spends his time with draft boards and selections. Reid does his own board, discusses players with the staff and lets his GM do his thing. I'm sure he's going to do the same now.

The Chiefs need a guard, CB, WR and with Geno, they are good for 2013. It ain't gonna happen overnight. But to say Reid isn't going to go after a young QB #1 is just wrong. He did. He will again and Geno has more of those skills that Reid needs than McNabb ever had.

I guess my point was that it happens all the time. Quinn is a perfect example.

Now if you were to say he got let go for bringing in Quinn as "competition", I'd agree with you. We all knew how that would turn out.

That has to be included because he brought Quinn in to protect Cassel. It was not competition. We all knew that. He brought in Cassel through trading of draft picks and then continued to do whatever it took to keep Cassel as the starter.

Andy is a known for trading up and getting the guy he wants. He did it several drafts in a row. I think you have it backwards.

Actually, I have a better question. For all of you who say that there isn't one worthy of being taken: What do YOU look for in a QB?
