***Official Knowmo2724 homer-2000 thread***

Very few non-bronco fans can tolerate him. he creates inane threads that are homeristic in nature (his avatar is very apropos), and nobody loves him (not even his own mother)

'face, this can be the home for all knowmo threads so we aren't treated to the bi-weekly steaming 'presents' left by the front door.

What guarantees do you have with Jamal Williams, balls in your mouth?
I knew you would lie.

Hasn't Mecca taught you anything about positional value? The most important position on any 3/4 team (besides QB) is the NT position.

Jamal Williams still commands double teams and will still own any interior lineman in the NFL one on one. Jamal Williams makes everyone around him better.

Hell, for the cheap price paid... I'm a little put off that Denver didn't pursue Thomas Jones. Sure, he's 31 and at that point (see LT or any older RB from recent memory) when he can hit the declining wall fast, but damn... that's a great contract and a very nice addition for KC.

Denver's new trio on the DL... I think they're all nice moves and it should strengthen the defense. There's some risk, but there always is...

How can you possibly say that a guy that played one game last year still commands a double team when you have know way of knowing that? And since when is that an achievement for a NT who should often inherently occupy more than one blocker as part of his job.

He had a triceps injury. It's not like he blew out his knee or anything. Jamal Williams is still a monster.

Teams could block Ronald Fields one on one all day and Fields would be neutralized. If you block Jamal Williams one on one that lineman is going to be on his ass and Jamal Williams will be making a play in the backfield. Heck double teams still don't faze The Wall most of the time. I don't remember Denver's DL blowing up many plays and getting in the backfield last year... they will be doing a lot of that this year.

I think he will be a minor upgrade over the complete garbage you had last year. Whoopty do. Big fatties don't do too well after sitting an entire season at that age.

I know what I'll get out of Thomas Jones. You have no idea what a player who missed an entire year due to injury is going to give you.

Nice try though.

Positional value doesn't mean you can just plug an old, injured player in there and expect to get production that he gave to the Chargers about 3 years ago.

Triceps injury for a guy who uses his arms to shed blockers on every play.

Returning from a triceps injury isn't as monumental as someone returning from a major knee injury or something similar. Yes, there's risk, but let's not act like the guy had his leg nearly severed and is mounting a comeback.

They've updgraded their DL which is what they needed. There is much more work to be done.

2008 was one of his best seasons in the NFL, any Charger fan will tell you that. Look at Pat Williams, he is almost 40 years old and he is still a dominant force. Those big guys can play at a high level for a long time. They rely on brute strength more than athleticism.

I guess you think Pittsburgh resigning the soon to be 33 year old Casey Hampton was a bad move. Actually Jamal Williams contract is virtually the same as Hampton's.

That injury happened early in the year and he has had plenty of time to recover. He passed a physical, and obviously Denver wouldn't have signed him if he was in bad shape health-wise.

Nose tackle Jamal Williams, the long-time Charger, signed as part of a defensive line makeover (Denver added Justin Bannan and Jarvis Green, too), and this will be one of the most interesting signings in free agency this year. Williams played at an all-decade level for the Chargers (on my all-decade team, at least) before missing 15 games last year with a torn triceps. Had the Chargers not had so many free agents to sign, they probably would have made Williams more of a focus instead of allowing him to walk when his contract expired.

When he arrived in Denver for a visit last week, he weighed 334 (down about a dozen pounds from his playing weight, impressive for an offseason visit), and the Denver coaches who watched video of him in his last two years saw no sign of decline; neither did independent observers like Aaron Schatz of Footballoutsiders.com. If Williams is right, he'll be the perfect nose to draw double-teams, something Denver didn't have in 2009.
