Best movie stars to play dead rock stars

I've thought for years now that Brad Pitt would be AWESOME playing Kurt Cobain in a movie about the man. He plays stoner roles extremely well (see True Romance), and even looks a heck of a lot like him.

Which got me thinking- who'd be perfect for playing other dead rockers? I thought Val Kilmer was great in The Doors, but how about these (and other) deceased rock stars?

Jimi Hendrix (Morgan Freeman, if he was 40 years younger would be perfect for the role IMO)
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Janis Joplin
Freddie Mercury
John Lennon

Pitt would have made a decent Kobain maybe 10 years ago. Hes probably too old now. I think Pitt is like 42-43 now??

Yeah, I agree. The time for that one would've been close to 10 years ago...
