So, how do you guys react if the Walrus waits to pick a QB until later rounds

How many of you who think Clark hired the right guy will be spitting nails if the Walrus waits until round 2-3 to draft a QB? How many will be shouting you stupid M -F? How many will want his head on a stick?

Great analogy.

It isn't a matter of giving him something and having him work with it, which is why he was hired before a GM. He will be making the decisions or at least having a large say in what the main ingredient is. Maybe by looking at the steak he knows that USDA Prime Ribeye has some mad cow in it and he doesn't want to risk it.

I wont be happy. I've been wanting to be in this scenario to draft a QB with the top pick of the draft for 20 years.

I like the Andy Reid hire, but I don't think anything wrong with being critical of the decisions he or this organization makes. If we are not critical and just accept it then we are worthless as fans.

So he's just gonna scratch steak off the menu and go with the pork chop...

What would it take (value) to move from pick 1 in round 2 to somewhere in the late-mid 20s of the first?...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Petro thinks they're going to take a QB with the 2nd round pick, take Joeckel with the 1st pick, and KEEP MATT CASSEL.

If Reid truly values accuracy in his QB's above everything else, Cassel and Quinn will be the first ones out the door...

It appears that people continue to underestimate Clark's perceptiveness.

He knows (and, therefore, everybody else in the organization knows) that Coswell is toxic to this fan base. He knows that. It would surprise me greatly if we kept that imbecile on the roster.

On the other hand, I don't think you'll hear anybody demeaning Coswell publicly. Instead, they'll keep their cards close and look for ways to derive some sort of value from the guy in the form, possibly, of a trade or something.

Yep Petro thinks that Luke Joekel should be the first pick and then Matt Barkley in the 2nd round would be good.

Hmmm

http://www.walterfootball.com/draft2013.php

Quote:
1. Kansas City Chiefs - Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia

I wrote earlier that this pick largely depended on what would happen with Scott Pioli. If Pioli were retained, he'd draft Star Lotulelei or Luke Joeckel and then use his second-round pick on Mike Glennon, whom he likes. If Pioli were fired, however, as the awesome @saveourchiefs movement was pushing for, the new general manager would almost have to take a franchise quarterback.

Well, it was the latter situation that occurred. Andy Reid was hired, while Pioli was axed. New regimes mean new quarterbacks, but whether that means Reid will spend this selection on a quarterback or sign his aging, scrambling signal-caller from Philadelphia remains to be seen. But if history is any indication, Reid will use this pick on Geno Smith.

Reid eschewed all the top free-agent quarterbacks when he took over as the Eagles' head coach, taking a mobile, Big East product with a good deep ball and upside instead. Well, Smith is a mobile, (former) Big East product with a good deep ball and upside. He fits perfectly into Reid's offense.

ESPN and other outlets will tell you that Smith nor any other signal-caller is worth taking No. 1 overall, but that could easily change. Remember two years ago when ESPN was mocking Da'Quan Bowers and Nick Fairley to the Panthers? Well, Cam Newton ballooned to the top, as will some other quarterback this year. It could be Smith, Tyler Wilson, Matt Barkley or Glennon. We'll see. Four months is a long time. If this doesn't happen, the Chiefs could always trade down.

By the way, I'm doing this live because I thought it'd be fun to get instant feedback. I'm going to post my mock anyway, so why not do it this way? Follow @walterfootball for updates.
