Today we compare the franchises of Baltimore and Buffalo. Baltimore has not existed for 50 years, so we'll add percentages of franchise history for this comparison.

(And yeah, it makes the shorter-lived franchises more boom or bust, but there's not much we can do about it.)

Baltimore

Joe Flacco - 8 seasons as quarterback (40% of history)
Kyle Boller - 4 (20% of history)
Tony Banks - 2 (10% of history)
Vinny Testaverde - 2 (10% of history)
Steve McNair - 1 (5% of history)
Jeff Blake - 1 (5% of history)
Elvis Grbac - 1 (5% of history)
Jim Harbaugh - 1 (5% of history)

They produced 1 pro bowl from this group - Testaverde in 1996. (Wow - Flacco has never been to a pro bowl?)

Buffalo

Joe Ferguson - 12 (24% of history)
Jim Kelly - 11 (22% of history)
Ryan Fitzpatrick - 4 (8% of history)
Drew Bledsoe - 3 (6% of history)
Dennis Shaw - 3 (6% of history)
Jack Kemp - 3 (led team for 6 seasons, 3 before 1966) (6% of history)
Doug Flutie - 2 (4% of history)
Trent Edwards - 2 (4% of history)
Tyrod Taylor - 1 (Current starter) (2% of history)
Kyle Orton - 1 (2% of history)
E.J. Manuel - 1 (2% of history)
J.P. Losman - 1 (2% of history)
Kelly Holcomb - 1 (2% of history)
Alex Van Pelt - 1 (2% of history)
Rob Johnson - 1 (2% of history)
Todd Collins - 1 (2% of history)
Vince Ferragamo - 1 (2% of history)
Dan Darragh - 1 (2% of history)

They produced 10 pro bowlers in 50 years, with Jim Kelly leading at 5. I'm a bit surprised that Joe Ferguson never made a pro bowl, too.

Wait, when we are voting for the more successful franchise, are we talking strictly QB-wise, or just more successful in general?

One good pick.

In a 50-year period.

That's kind of freaky to think about.
It also works when another team picks a guy but the guy refuses to play for that team and picks his own team instead.
