I guess the only way that the 8+ year cycle will end is if another viable competitor smashes in with a next gen system in the middle of the traditional Sony/Microsoft cycle (Apple anyone?).

That's not what reviews say, its not what my old football gaming friends say. Not what I read a lot on forums. Consensus is this years game got worse for some reason. Ea is lazy with football games.

A huge tell is the next gen games look at how much data ea is using on madden and FIFA then look at how much 2K is using for NBA. It indicates that one company is putting a ****ton more effort into their games.

The shit 2k is doing with NBA 2K next gen is pretty impressive. Then again they were always known for their miles ahead presentation.

At launch I'm picking up BF4, NBA 2k14, and Black Flag...will be picking up Minecraft too as I believe it's available at launch.

Yup. Lots of guys on here seem to still have their original 60GB backward compatible PS3. Including me.
