Geno Smith fans roll call

NEW THREAD HEADER (11/17/12):

The list is gone. We will all be Geno Smith fans when he gets drafted by the Chiefs. For historical documentation's sake, I'll keep the list in a separate post on this thread: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=3314

WHY GENO SMITH?
If you're wondering if Geno Smith is right for you, check out this brilliant post by Saccopoo:

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=5388

Next, we have a few GIFs you may be interested in from the Oklahoma game. Insane potential. These are the elite throws that very few QBs can make. What more can I say? Geno Smith can be a franchise QB in the NFL, and the Chiefs need to take a shot on him.

GIF #1:
Spoiler!

GIF #2:
Spoiler!

GIF #3 (My favorite):
Spoiler!

HOW DO WE GET HIM HERE?

Glad you asked. I posted this checklist earlier. It probably belongs in the thread header, and will be updated as the Chiefs close out their season and start a new chapter in their franchise story.

Preparing for Geno Smith's Arrival In KC Checklist

1. [X] Lose games and acquire the #1 overall pick
2. [X] Get Pioli and the Patriot Way cronies the **** out
3. [X] Hire new GM/coach

OPTIONAL (but highly recommended):
4. [ ] Re-sign/tag Bowe, who really wants to play in KC with Geno
5. [ ] Re-sign/tag Albert

So what do you say to the fact that Butt**** McGee from Alabama was able to run at 10 yards a pop DIRECTLY AT Jarvis Jones?

The potential is there, sure, much in the same way the potential was there for Jason Pierre-Paul. The only difference is that JPP wasn't selected with a top 5 pick. Teams in that position in the draft selected guys with higher floors instead.

It's insane that you think Jarvis Jones is such a goddamn surefire stud at his position, yet Geno Smith needs all kinds of work, and is as raw as they come.
Both of them are pretty raw and need work on areas. What I said about Geno has actually been said from scouts.
Difference between the two is that QB is the most important position in sports. We've seen DE's be great in this game when they can't stop the run. Hell Tamba was a liability in run support for his first few years but he was still a good pass rusher.

A QB can't be a one trick pony. Questioning a prospect you like isn't a crime. That doesn't mean you don't like him. Just means you want more information on him before you proclaim him Jesus Christ Superstar.

If it makes you feel better, I would take Geno Smith over Cam Newton. I'm much more comfortable with Geno.

I don't see how anyone can watch the various clips of Smith and not agree with RunKC.

Most of his throws are 1 read. On those throws he's really good and confident. If he has to go through progressions he's an average player.

What you say might be true to some extent, I have only watched Geno 3-4 games but does it mean that if he was real good at going through progessions, he'd have completed 80% of his passes this year??

I mean, when you complete over 70% of your passes, one might think you don't have much trouble locating an open receiver and throwing with accuracy.

System accounts for part of the high completion %.

I see we are back to playing the typical Chiefs fan game, in regards to drafting a QB.

If I may, what is so scary about drafting Geno first overall?

I think the reason some here are so for Geno, isn't necessarily what he's done numbers wise. It's the upside he presents. When you look at all things considered, plus the success he's had, thats what excites people.

Another thing I've been thinking about, and we've actually spoken about a little, but if I may.

Take out last years class. Forget Luck.

Compare scouting reports of Geno to every other Qb taken in the last 10 or so. Every Qb has had flaws. I feel like some of the scouts even have the "Luck" goggles on.

I agree. His system is profoundly helping him out like it does every other QB in the spread.

Even Pat White had a 66% completion percentage for 3 years in the spread.

I like Geno as a prospect more than Sam Bradford and it's not even close.

I definitely like him more than Matt Ryan (and my feelings on Ryan at the time I think have been proven mostly right).

As a pure pocket passer, I prefer him to Newton.

He's got much more experience than Sanchez and much more upside.

That's what I could come up with in 30 seconds.

So you don't think Bradford was that accurate at OU? Or RGIII?

Basically, every NCAA team runs the spread or a variation of it. So most college QB's have an inflated completion percentage.

It's definitely something to think about, although I don't see a problem with his accuracy.

Then you don't just 'hand him the keys'.

You draft him and try to find a competent veteran. You tell Bray that his job is to take the job away from the vet and if he can't do it, you use the Rodgers model.

If we can't get Smith, I want the 2nd highest upside QB in the draft and that is, without question, Tyler Bray.

I agree with you, except Matt Ryan showed more of an "it" factor than Geno.

One only needs to watch a couple of games to know he's no Pat White...

No, he didn't.

The "it" factor was the biggest question mark with Matt Ryan and still is.

0 playoff wins.

I never was high on Bradford. IMO he had the same problems that Leinart had. Duke Robinson, Phil Loadholt, Trent Williams, DeMarco Murray, Jermaine Gresham, Ryan Broyles and Juaquin Iglesias formed the best supporting cast by far in college and made him look good.

His accuracy is among the best, but his football IQ is overrated.

I'm fine taking a QB. I just don't have any idea which one yet. The Geno or nobody mentality and refusal of some people to actually debate his weaknesses reminds me 100% of the love-fest that occurred with Clausen and Sanchez.
