I don't see us trading down. There's no trade up for player in this draft. It's gonna be Geno or a dumbass DL again.

If it's true that the Chiefs are trying to negotiate with Albert on a long-term deal, then there's a better chance that Geno Smith is the pick than Luke Joeckel.

Alex Smith has 2 years left on an average-sized QB contract.
Branden Albert would presumably make near top-dollar LT money on a 5 year deal.

I'm not saying Geno's the pick, but I now think that based on what I've read today that there's a better chance he is than Joeckel/Fisher/Johnson.

I'm trying to convince myself that the pick will be something else other then a QB and I just can't see a way.

It really depends on how sincere Dorsey is about signing Albert to a long-term deal.

But even franchising Albert makes no sense if the plan is to draft Joeckel #1 overall.

I'll say this...it improves our ability to trade down because it muddies the picture of who we want to draft. Any uncertainty we can create is a good thing, no matter what our intentions are.

I don't know. Why would the Redskins give up their 1st and 2nd round picks in consecutive years for a QB, and then turn around and spend another 4th rounder on ANOTHER QB?

You heard Andy. It's his job to find the next Len Dawson. Well, this gives us a pretty good ****ing shot at finding him if we do it this way. Geno pushes Alex for two years, all while not rushing into the NFL and taking his time. The way shit should be done.

Either Alex turns into the super ultra rapey rape QB or we just wait for Geno and give him a shot. It's the perfect way to fix the QB position all in a year when people said there were no good options for any teams out there.

Who is worth trading up for? It's Geno or DL IMO

Well said. Also don't forget that the deal for Alex Smith is not yet finalized. I don't say that to indicate that Alex Smith isn't coming, because he probably is. I say that to point out that the compensation could be much different in terms of what comes back to us in the deal.

Do we get a mid-rounder back? If we get Albert locked up long-term, Dorsey could even go back and soften the price if he wanted to. It would be a dick move for sure, but he could do it.

Hell

I'd like to see Geno picked. That said, you do not use #1 and #2 on a QB with the holes this team has.

Dorsey and/or Jackson are out the door. We will go DL again, but hopefully our personnel guys can actually find talent, unlike dickskin.

Except - what is the #1 hole on this team? QB by far.

I don't mind throwing extra resources at it.

I'd like to see us fill the DL holes via free agency this time. If we land Jenkins or Canty, I think we can get by with our current lineup of DL for one year. Not everything has to be fixed immediately.

QB, however, needs to be doubly invested to make up for the lack of attention Pioli paid to it over 4 years. We have a great chance to line up all our ducks this draft and wait and see what happens.

Yeah, well, no one else hasn't drafted a QB in the first in 30 years, so...

I'll take the odds of finding a 3-4 DE in rounds 3-5 or FA over finding a franchise QB in those spots. Any day of the week.

We're back to:

If it's all a reach, reach for the position with the highest value.
