Life Major Flea Problem in your house: How do you get rid of them?

I am at my grandmothers house in Ocean City, MD. She has 2 cats and a major flea problem. I have gotten bit around 50 times in the 7 days or so that I've been here.

Anyways, the exterminators have a 90 day plan that costs $375 that they guarantee will get rid of the fleas.

I know thats a lot, but I am leaving her house in 3 days, and she won't be able to bomb the place by herself over and over again.

Does anyone have any tips or stories about how they got rid of them?

vacuum with a bagless like every 2 hours and empty and wash it out.

Step 1

Get rid of fleas on your pet. Fleas usually come into your home on the body of a warm-blooded creature such as your dog or cat, then multiply.

Step 2

Religiously clean surfaces where your dog or cat spends the most time. These are the areas where fleas, eggs, larvae and pupae are most likely to be found. This includes cleaning concrete floors in basements and garages.

Step 3

Vacuum carpets thoroughly and often. Even if you already have an active infestation, vacuuming can pick up adult fleas as well as pupae.

Step 4

Use flea granules in the nap of your carpet. These can be applied once a year and remain active for the whole year. They are safe and effective.

Step 5

Spray carpets with an insecticide such as micro-encapsulated pyrethrins. Repeated applications may be necessary. Use chemicals with caution and read labels carefully.

Step 6

Combine the insecticide (which will kill adult fleas) with a growth regulator, which will break the life cycle of the flea. Follow directions carefully.

Step 7

Call a pest control company if your efforts are unsuccessful. Such companies are well-equipped to deal with flea infestations

What he said. If you keep them off the cats they won't have anywhere to reproduce. The vet quality stuff is effective.

They've been using Frontline for a few months now and still have them. Plus they've been feeding off of the humans here too, but they don't stay on us like they do cats I guess. I could upload a pic of my feet but you'd all probably puke.

Fleas suck but how does one get rid of whip worms in his yard. So far I can't find a cure. We can cure the dog and clean the pen but apparently there is no way to get this nasty things out of the ground. I'm going to go bleach the pen here in a minute and that should clean them out of there but I have no way to get these things out of my yard except removing the infected dirt and replacing it with uninfected dirt.

Fuggin whip worms....
