I guess you were wrong.

Students march on campus to Myles Brand's (College President) house and burn an effigy of the supposed latest victim of BK (Kent Harvey).

Harvey is the stepson of the recently fired sports shock jock, Mark Shaw. Shaw has the annoying habit of crying about anything Knight does and demands his head at every turn (sound familiar).

Finally and most telling, 12 players on the basketball team have threatened to transfer to other programs now that Knight is gone. Junior guard Danny Fife, "We chose to play for coach Knight. . . . We would definitely consider leaving. Again, it's not a threat, but we came here to play for coach Knight."

Hmmm, odd behavior for a bunch of kids to defend the man that is such an abusive bully to, don't you think?

It was only a matter of time. With all the liberal media attention on him, even something so minor as grabbing this ill-mannered little punk and teaching him some respect was too much. I hope the Indiana fans get ahold of both this twerp and his moron step-father. Let them sew what they reaped.

BTW, the correct way to address someone like Knight is "Good morning, Mr. Knight, SIR!"

The next thing I'm waiting for is for the kid to sue Knight for somehow violating his civil rights. You know somewhere out there an ambulance-chasers wheels are spinning over this one.

This is a sad sign of the times. Don't be a man, don't respect your elders, run crying like a little b!tch when the slightest thing bad happens.

On the bright side, I hope someone in Columbia is smart enough to pick up the phone and give Bob a call. I'll take him as my coach IN A HEARTBEAT!

Russ, I endured Jim Rome today and watched The Last Word this evening just because of this developement. I wanted to puke, all Rome could do today was rail about how Knight should NEVER grab any kid by the arm under ANY circumstances.

Like Fraz stated, it's a sad commentary on our society that children can not be disciplined. (I'm not talking about beating them either left wingers.) I'd say that it is likely that the kid is a spoiled brat and needed to be taken down a notch or two.

Haha this really cracks me up. So grabbing a kid by his throat and shoving him backwards is "disciplining" him?? And all this crap about the "liberal media" writing his death sentence when all the evidence we needed was either on that tape or available directly from witnesses. What about the time he shattered a vase next to his secretary's head?? Was that another disciplinary tactic by the poor gallant Bob?? Was he just trying to give his secretary some guidance?? Listen I know all you arch conservatives are big on the whole corporal discipline thing, but you need to learn to pick your battles. No doubt, Knight was as talented a basketball man as they come, but he had some serious problems controlling himself.

Mark-

Bliss-

I knew you would be here defending your idol Knight.

I told you earlier he was the classic bully, had zero discipline, and it has proven true. Once rules were laid down for Knight he ignored them, and was fired.

Knight berated a female staff member over his $30K fine, then as only a wuss like Knight would do, assaulted a timid, slender of build 19-year old punk.

Showing the ultimate in whining and crying, Knight is now trying to sabotage the very program that kissed his ample *** at every turn and made him what he was.

Knight is a punk, and a classic bully. As I told you before, he will never attempt anything physical with a man, only boys and women.

I can remeber the time I served in Bloomington, and am not suprised that a bunch of drunk college students would rally and riot for Knight. They only need any reason.

As an IU alum you sure seem proud.

BTW---I told you so.
Hey, we should all listen to Jim Rome. He knows everything and is always right (or left). Just ask him, he'll tell you.

Add me to the long list of people who'd like to crack Mr. Rome upside the head with a 2X4.

Kids often need to get smacked (Disclaimer - NOT advocating child abuse - good idea, Kurt). I got my a$$ whipped a lot and thank God for it. Of course, up here in Chicago its okay to have your kid with you while you're sitting on a Loop sidewalk begging for money, but God forbid you smack your kid in the butt when he's knocking groceries off the shelves and screaming at the top of his lungs at the local grocery store. DCFS will launch a full-scale investigation over that one.

The thing that scares me the most is that drill instructors are no longer allowed to touch recruits. This is a terrifying idea. Having been in bootcamp once, I can attest to the fact that a large number of these kids NEED to get the crap beat out of them. They need discipline instilled and they need to be turned into MEN. I don't like the idea of a bunch of coddled little p#ssies being charged with the safety of my country.

Of course, I'm sure Jim Rome is all for it.

Michael - And as usual with Knight, you avoid the obvious facts and run with your feelings.

What about the players for Knight, that is the main thrust of the post and you conveniently forgot to add your comments.

Nowhere in my post did I defend Knight. In fact, as I stated earlier, if he touched the student, he knew the consequences.

However, you have been the biggest cryer of Knights actions. His very base of players vehemently disagree with you. I guess you believe you know more than they do about the man who has coached them for 3 years?

Revolver-NO, it is way PAST time for this to happen! You misunderstand!

IF IU had treated the Coach in the same disciplinarian fashion that the Coach promoted he would have either straightened his act up years ago or he would have been long gone by now. It's simple; what you allow, you encourage. It's the Univ's fault.

I wish they HAD of rained on his butt years ago, he could have been an even better coach than he was had he acted in a manner that was consistant with his beliefs.

THANK GOD FOR THE EDIT FUNCTION, GOOD GRIEF!

Hey I like you guys' thinking. Ain't nothing a good *** whuppin won't fix. Jesus Christ I'm glad none of you guys were my parents. I too was spanked as a child and I have no problem with spanking as a legitimate disciplinary tool, but we aren't talking about 5 year olds here. These players were 20 years old plus. If they can't be disciplined verbally then if I was Bob Knight they would be out of my program ASAP.

They is a huge difference between spanking a child as a form of conditioning and "kicking the crap out of him," to quote frazod. This is some scary **** you guys are advocating.

Mark

I know he has zero discipline.
I know I was right, and you were wrong. I knew he would get fired once rules were put in place for him to follow.

I know IU is a pathetic University that can't control their own students or Knight.

Gee Michael, I read your last statement and I still don't see a straight answer.

The very self same players that you state Bobby Knight bullies have rallied and threatened to destroy their future professional careers to save a man they believe in. Do you know more than they do?

What is so hard about answering my question?
