Most Pathetic Play In Chiefs History

Not worst play ever, as in the most significant bad play in Chiefs history.

I mean the one play in Chiefs history that was just so fundamentally terrible from a football standpoint, that it made you honestly question how/why the player(s) that committed it could have landed an NFL career.

My vote:

I believe it was 2007 or 2008, the last year or two of Herm Edwards. I forget who he QB was.

The Chiefs were down to their last play in yet another losing effort to the Colts, but they were only down one score with about sixty yards left to go.

The Chiefs go into a lateral-off, having several players lateral to keep the play alive until, hope against hope, one of them could break off and score.

Brian Waters. Tony G. Then the ball gets to Samie Parker.

Samie Parker dives into the turf, and crawls about three yards until a Colts player walks up and touches him on the shoulder, ending the game.

Brian Waters visibly pissed. Somebody explains to Parker what the **** he did, and he smiles and laughs with his knees still on the turf.

Beat that, Planeteers.

(I'll get a "most impressive play" thread going after this one runs its course.)

Have any of the Lin Elliot kicks vs. the colts in the playoffs been nominated? If not, I go with those.

That was the first play that came to mind for me.

Elvis spiking the ball on fourth down comes to mind too, though I don't recall if that was a preseason game. Not that it matters for this discussion.

Or you know, I don't remember the particular play, but the play that may have made me the most angry as a Chiefs fan was Herm Edwards playing conservative in overtime against Peyton Manning's Colts and then punting to PEYTON MANNING, assuming he was going to win a field position battle or something. That series tipped me over the edge from being patient to being stridently anti-Herm and Carl.

While there was no particular play, I would also offer the following three things:

Eric Hicks getting beat on a rollout for the 8,000th time.

Greg Robinson's defense rushing one guy in order to give the quarterback several minutes to complete a pass.

Paul Hackett always calling plays on third down that had no routes past the first down marker.

2006 - overtime with Cleveland and Greg Wesley (I believe it was him) completely blew a tackle on Derek Anderson who scrambled for a huge gain. If I remember right they ran a couple of plays and then kicked the game-winning field goal. I was so pissed that I broke my remote control and threw away the Chiefs shirt I was wearing that day. Man, I used to be so passionate when it came to the Chiefs, that losses like that destroyed me. The last seven years have numbed me a bit to painful losses. And blowout losses too I guess.

Even with that fumble we still would have had a shot had it not been for the bs offensive PI call against Gonzo in the end-zone.

The play in the Ravens playoff game where Cassel literally had about 10 seconds and a perfectly clean pocket and he throws the ball to Moeaki, who was in double coverage, and it's picked.

I think Clay has the gif.

That was a bad, bad day.

I'll forever wonder what in the hell it was that the Radiers did to Cassel the week before to cause him to completely revert back to the shitstain he ended up being the rest of his time with us.
