Pretty alarmist, IMO, but possible.

Spoiler!

That depends on how much crude drops. I doubt that it will go anywhere near the price per barrel to get close to $2.00. I think $3.25 - $3.50 would be a better guess.

I went to put some gas in my car a few days ago. The guy filling up on the other side of the pump says to me, "I never thought I'd ever see the day when I was glad to see gas at $3.48/gal."

On my way to work this morning, I noticed that it was down to $3.44.

Must be nice. It's still hovering right around $4.00 up here (certainly higher in the City), although I've heard there are places in the area where it's just below $4.00.

But you're right; after the assraping we've endured, $3.50 does seem cheap, which I suppose is the idea.

But that part of me that thinks paying more than $1.00 a gallon for anything a bunch of inbred cavemen pump out of the ground is too much will never go away.

It's all part of the diabolical plan that the oil companies are carrying out. Jack the prices up to past $4, then let them settle out. And pretty soon, people are happy about $3.50ish - just like that guy - and they don't even think about when it was $2.50 or so.

What I find funny (and disturbing) are these car dealers selling new cars with a promise of fillups at the pump for 2.99/gal, like that is some kind of otherwordly deal for the consumer. If I didn't know better, it would seem like we the people are slowly being forcibly accustomed to the high price of gasoline.

Sometimes I can't detect your sarcasm, but I really hope you were in Hawaii if this is true.

Nope, here in Denver. Of course, it's the organic stuff that my wife insists on giving to the kids.

CUT YOUR MILK CONSUMPTION, PEOPLE!

Take public transpor...

Eh, I mean drink water.

Or quit using those milk guzzling 32 ounce plastic cups from QT and downsize to a more economical 8 oz glass.

Cookies and milk NO MORE!
