Smith is a hard QB to rank. The position is so much more than stat whoring.

He is but they ranked him in the right spot. A few others should drop into tier 3. There also needs to be a tier 5.

Most of the others in his tier above him have won off their arms in the 4th quarter. Alex had a great year, but defenses are not scared of him or his arm.

If Bowe drags his foot like he was paid to do(Colts Playoff). Alex plays his position well, he is a team guy, great community guy too. He is a great "franchise" guy.

Realistically he should be above Carr and Winston, but coaches get caught up with those guys youth and potential while knowing Alex has reached his full potential. If Carr does as well or better as he did last year Id rank him above Smith. Good game managers should be ranked middle of the pack anyway. They just slighted him a couple spots this time. 16 would be spot on.

For the record, only five head coaches were included in this survey, not all 32.

The voting panel for our third annual NFL QB Tier Rankings consisted of 42 league insiders -- 10 general managers, five head coaches, seven offensive coordinators, five defensive coordinators, eight personnel evaluators and seven other position coaches/executives.

What's interesting to me is that the Top 100 Players, as selected by NFL players, obviously feel a bit different than the people in this particular poll.

Thats pretty fair, I wouldnt argue against it too hard, except maybe Dalton being above Smiff or anyone else you ranked him above, for all of his arm talent and the talented team he leads... he still hasnt won jack

9-14 are the ones that are likely to change from game to game, honestly. I don't feel strongly about those guys. They're generally on the plus side, occasionally flashing greatness, but sprinkle in some bad games here and there.

I guess that group would be my tier 3. They've all got some type of glaring weakness or just don't get it done consistently. Good enough to start on most teams but they're going to need a lot of help to win you a Super Bowl.

I'm pretty sure that's just put together by the nfl network as no player has ever come out and said they've actually voted.

But that's their whole marketing ploy "As voted on by the players".

Would the NFL ever lie to anyone?
