Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

Arguing with a buddy about steroids/HGH in Crossfit. I see people posting "inspirational" Crossfit videos on Facebook and comparing themselves to the top competitors. I would argue that a very large majority of the top Crossfit competitors are juicing in some form. If you have monetary rewards for any competition THEN cheating happens. Doesn't take away anything that the top competitors do, but the general Crossfitter needs to be honest with themself about the sport.

That's like me comparing myself to Mariusz Pudzianowski. It doesn't diminish his accomplishments as I could juice like him and never make it to that level. But to claim Crossfit is a clean sport is ludicrous.

Yeah, you're right. I've noticed that I'm not as limber at 24 as I was at 18. I actually have to stretch and shit before I do anything. I used to literally go straight from the couch to running sprints with my friend. I never pulled a muscle or felt stiff or anything..

Old man strength lasts a long time. I once lost an arm wrestle to a 90-year old. Well, I didn't lose...but I didn't win, and if I he hadn't given up he was going to have a heart attack.

Getting old just sounds like a nightmare. I really fear the day my dick stops working. I think I'll just end it myself if that ever happens..

Until then I'm just going to keep up the cardio and hope I never have that problem.

The top competitors definitely do, and they also don't train just crossfit. Also noticed most are tiny dudes, like 5-7 through 5-9.

Tried 45 lbs on the Seated Calf Raise Machine (or whatever it's called). I can definitely tell I haven't worked the hammies in a while. The lying hamstring curls (with the physio ball) worked the hammies good as well.

I did the barbell squats and lunges with just the 35 lb barbell, the hip adduction machine at 55 lbs (probably could have added a little more), and some time on the bike.

I've wondered about that. A couple of the top finishers at the Crossfit Games work out at my gym. I'd be very surprised to learn that they were juicing, but I guess I really have no idea.
