Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

I watched A Single Man Thursday night and Magnolia yesterday.

Never had seen either one.

I'm not sure what I think the best picture of the year is... but it's not The King's Speech (IMO).

Firth absolutely deserves the Oscar. Dude is amazing. He takes what could have been just a mediocre movie and makes it a damn good movie. Rush, I actually wasn't as impressed with as I expected to be. My expectations were high. He's good, but...

I haven't see The Fighter yet, but from what I've heard Bale really deserves this one.

Bale does deserve it but Rush was all about nuance.

So he's a great actor and this role wasn't SUPER GREAT, so he doesn't deserve it?

I haven't seen a lot of the other movies, but he was definitely Nomination worthy. I wouldn't be surprised if he won it.

Watched "Let me in" last night. Really enjoyed it.

it is NOT a horror movie. More of a suspense film....with a bit of love story thrown in.

A nice, pure, indie-type suspense/mild-horror film.

He absolutely deserves the nomination! I'm just not certain he deserves the Oscar. But I can't say that for sure because I haven't seen Bale's performance yet. I'm just basing this hypothesis on what I've heard about Bale's performance and my own taste. Bale has been one of my favorite actors for well over a decade now.

Maybe Bale isn't that great. Maybe my expectations are too high for that performance as well. I'm not trying to take away from what Rush did at all. I'm just saying I've seen him do better. So, I won't be surprised if he doesn't win.
