****Official 2013-14 Missouri Tiger Football Repository Thread****

We have two things to look forward to this year:

1) The potential beginning of the Maty Mauk Era. Mauk represents the best chance for this program to get back to a level of respectability after horrendous QB play cost us multiple games last year.

2) The last year of the Gary Pinkel era. Pinkel's entrenched cronyism won't play in a conference this competitive, especially if he couples his abysmal gameday coaching with lackadaisical, worst-in-conference recruiting. Pinkel was the formerly adequate meal that has now turned into a four pound bowel obstruction. It's time to jam a Fleet's enema up our collective asses.

Here is the schedule. We dodge Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas in the west and the Non-con is decidedly weaker than years past.

8/31: Murray State
9/7: Toledo
9/21: @ Indiana
9/28: Arkansas State
10/5:@ Vanderbilt
10/12: @ Georgia
10/19:Florida
10/26: South Carolina
11/2:Tennessee
11/9: @ Kentucky
11/23: @ Ole Miss
11/30: aTm

Looks like 6-6. Undefeated in non-con, 2-6 in league play.

I will eventually update the OP with a list of high profile in-state recruits that decide to go elsewhere after a half-assed attempt to gain their services. The inevitable cavalcade of *** rejects, skeezers, skanks, and scalliwags we get will fill out the ranks.

Razors, cyanide capsules, and Jonestown Kool-Aid are available in the break room. Second door on the left.

Since every Mizzou thread eventually dies of AIDS, I recommend starting anti-retroviral therapy immediately. I believe Walgreens covers Express Scripts.

Premium In-State Players:

Roderick Johnson: **** OT, Florissant, MO.
Monte Harrison: **** WR, Lee's Summit, MO.
Jimmy Swain: **** LB, Lee's Summit, MO

Commitment List: From to and possibly

Spoiler!

Missouri's biggest name players have often been St. Louis kids (Gabbert, Sheldon) but they get far more depth from KC.

An example:

Boehm, Lucas, Gaines, Wilson, Shane Ray, Lucas Vincent are all from the KC area. That area has more local schools cultivating it (Nebraska, KU, K-State), so it makes sense we get fewer players from there.

However, there are three OL in St. Louis with Alabama offers, and it's likely that Missouri won't get a single one of them. Bauer, the highest rated, is going to Miss, and Roderick Johnson and the other kid from CBC (whose name escapes me) likely will go to another SEC school.

IMO, they shouldn't be losing kids that highly rated from instate to other conference schools.

Thats indefensible.

Aldon was a KC kid.

Florida State's computer rankings will likely go down from here (they have No. 7 Miami, unranked Florida and the Coastal division champ as the only "high profile" teams left). It's possible Missouri would pass them with its slate (No. 1 Bama, top 15 aTm, top 25ish Ole Miss and Tennessee) remaining should it win out.

Key will be winning over the pollsters. Hard to imagine a case in which an unbeaten SEC team would NOT play for the national title.
I understand your confidence....but please let me remind you MU is the University that is the recipient/victim of the following:

1) The Fifth Down
2) The Flea Kicker
3) The Tyus Edney layup
4) The Orange Bowl snub (taking KS instead)
5) Loss to Norfolk State in the NCAA

So I hope you understand my reluctance to have hope that the football gods will smile down on us.

Losing a kid to Alabama is hardly indefensible. We can't lose as many as we have been, though.

http://rivals.yahoo.com/missouri/foo...mpIazf.YwYs5B4

Currently they've offered 1-7, 9, 11, 12, 14, & 15, securing commitments from 11 & 14 only. That ain't gonna cut it.

Of those not committed to MO they are still in on Baur, Wingo, Smith, and Wallace as well as Johnson to an extent so we'll see what happens.

And it's been slipping in recent years.

Failing to shut the borders down is one of the big things holding Pinkel back. We all thought we were going to be coach shopping this Christmas. This regime has been very iffy overall w/ a smattering of high points among what's been a mostly mediocre 13 years.
The DGBs of the world (top 5 overall prospects) came to Missouri twice in the last decade, and we landed both of them. I'm not saying ignore those guys - clearly that is stupid.

I am saying that I don't really care whether we get the 3* MO recruits over the 3* FL or GA recruits. In fact, I'd probably prefer the 3* FL or GA recruits.

The more 3* Missouri kids you get, the more it will draw the 4 and 5* Missouri kids.

I don't believe that is true of the Florida and Georgia kids.

We could win the East for the next 5 years and Florida will simply start recruiting along the 'Bring the home front back to power' angle. We're not going to snipe key recruits from established football states with major universities.

We can, however, keep them in state.

It's indefensible to lose in-state kids to programs like Bama and Florida State? Really?

I don't see a problem for us in attracting in-state 4* or 5* recruits. When we produce kids of that caliber, we sure seem to get our fair share of them, especially when we are playing well.

I am more down on the MO prep talent than others in this thread. We do poorly in St. Louis, yet I can't remember too many St. Louis "misses" (other than Montee Ball) that went on to do much of anything in college.

If anything, I think we need to focus more attention on Illinois. That state produces 5-8 4* kids a year. We should pick off a few of those kids every year.

I might be remembering selectively, but it seems like the KC kids pan out much more often than the St. Loius kids do.

He was as big or bigger of a prospect than Lucas Vincent, whom you included.

We need more classes like 2010.

That should be our baseline.
