The much-discussed potential trade of Branden Albert from the Chiefs to the Dolphins doesn’t appear likely at the price Albert is currently seeking.

Although the Chiefs and Dolphins can probably agree on compensation — the Dolphins sending a second-round pick to Kansas City — the hangup is that Albert wants the kind of money that the Dolphins aren’t willing to spend. Specifically, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, Albert wants between $8 million and $9 million a year on a long-term deal.

In other words, Albert is looking for the same kind of contract that left tackle Jake Long got from the Rams — the very contract the Dolphins wouldn’t give Long, which is why he left Miami for St. Louis.

If the Dolphins weren’t willing to pay Long that kind of money, it’s hard to see why they’d be willing to give up a second-round draft pick for the privilege of paying Albert that kind of money. So the Dolphins may need to look elsewhere for a left tackle. And Albert may have to settle for playing this season for the Chiefs, making $9.8 million, and hitting free agency next year.

Smith is every bit as raw as Carr was when he came here.

He has better size with less speed and we're hoping to coach the "Bartee" out of him.

He has, from all I've watched, absolutely no ball awareness. He's got everything you'd want in a DB other than the confidence to turn and locate.

I know, they coach you to play the man but even the best take a quick take back to locate the ball. Smith plays soooOOOOO much like Bartee it scares me...

I took the day off and am sitting at home watching NFLN and they just said the Dolphins are willing to give up BOTH second round picks for Albert.

I had to rewind the dvr and listen again to make sure I heard it right and I did.

I wouldn't be pissed if we get both 2s for him and take Fisher...so long as we take a qb to groom with one of the second rounders (or trade up if one of them falls)

I don't think he has sub 4.5 speed.

He ran a 4.51 at the combine and that was five years ago.

Now it's "has" sub 4.5 speed.

You asked "show me one link of him ever running a sub 4.5, hilariously you got two and one of which was an electronically timed 4.47 with NFL combine announcers crowing about him being a 6'3 corner running that time, because that is an "elite skillset" for an NFL corner.

Did you not guarantee and "know" DMC would be cut in training camp? Was he? Were you wrong about that?

I admit to being wrong about Sean Smith running a sub 4.5 (barely) once upon a time.

I also don't doubt that he isn't that fast.

Even so, running a 4.4 as a CB doesn't give you elite talent.

They could easily take a LT in the 2nd round. They spent a lot of time at the Oregon pro day.....maybe they liked what they saw in Kyle Long.

Please let it be so. If we could get two 2nd round picks it would ease the burden of not being able to trade out of 1.1. Well unless one of the 2nd picks is next year.
