Electronics Killer apps for Android? - Page 34

Since there's an iPhone version, I figured I'd start a Droid version. After being handcuffed by Sprint's SERO plan for the past two years, I finally ordered my LG Optimus S last night. It'll be here in about 24 hours. So, what toys should I play with when it arrives?

My kids are getting android devices for Christmas. I have a couple of questions:

1) Can I buy apps now and install them later on Christmas day?

2) If I buy an app, can I install it on multiple devices?

1) If you activate their phone and set it up to their market account, you could. You can buy through market.android.com. The apps will download automatically to the phone.

2) No, not legally.

It all goes by the gmail email address....

I use a Android phone and an Android tables with the same email and it lists those aps as belonging to me on either device.

I guess this depends how you want to set up the account for your kids. For instance, when I log into market.android.com (with my regular google account), it recognizes all the devices I have tied to that account.

So right now I just clicked buy Minecraft. A little window pops up with a drop down box that asks, "Send to which device...", and I can pick what device I want to download it to.

I honestly don't know how this will work with kids. Maybe someone here can address that. I don't know if you can run all of them off one (presumably yours) google account? Generally each user would run all of his/her devices off their unique account. To me, it could get a little tricky trying to run them all from one google account.

I also don't know what type of parental controls Google has built in to keep your guys from charging to the CC, or billing apps to your carrier.

[edit] Just to be clear, like R8ers said, you don't have to buy an app for every unique device you have, just for every unique account. So if you have a phone and a tablet, you only have to buy once. But if your wife and you each have an android phone, you can't buy an app and give it to her.

If your kids log into your Amazon account from their phones they can dl all free and paid apps you get from the Amazon App store. No need to buy multiples from Amazon.

i dl'ed the live christmas wallpaper,and want to get into it to customize but can't figure out how. FFS I rooted my phone, partitioned my SD card and flashed a custom kernel but I can't figure out how to get into settings on an app.
Anyone care to help me escape my shame?

We don't have any phones/tablets/PMPs associated with the Android market yet. In fact, we haven't used any android devices yet. Can I buy apps without having any devices associated with the market and then once they are opened at Christmas, download the apps onto the devices?
