Official 2012-2013 NBA Thread

Looks like James Harden has been To the Rockets for Jeremey Lamb, Kevin Martin and future picks. Plus... this is a general NBA thread.

Name those things. Because Kobe has been on the All Defensive team for 9 years and 2nd team all defensive for 3. What exactly can't he do?

I could honestly See LeBron getting 5-7 rings. He's just easily the best player in the NBA right now and Durant at #2 really isn't even close.

Although I think it goes

LeBron
HUGE GAP
Durant
GAP
Debate time
I go Chris Paul as my #3.

Well, for example, Kobe can't shoot efficiently, pass, defend, or rebound anywhere near as well as LeBron (and this all shows in the career statistics, not that an unbiased observer would need them). LeBron's freakish size, athleticism, and incredible basketball IQ allows him to do things on the court that Kobe just can't. What else is there?

LeBron is the best player currently, and can't be compared fairly to MJ and Kobe yet because he hasn't played enough basketball.

Durant's game evolves every year. There has never been a player quite like him. He's not as good as LeBron, but if it was a one on one tourney I'd take him against anyone.

LeBron's passing is what really sets him a part from the others. It's not system either. He is one of the best passers, scorers and defenders the game has seen.

Um, yes. Let's go out to the court and I'll show how to run the triangle. Kobe hasn't always been in the triangle, yet he's always gotten up his 20+ shots, teammates be damned. I can't believe anyone is actually arguing that LeBron isn't a better/more willing passer.

Let me make it simple. Regardless of age, system, coach, teammates, etc., if there's an open player LeBron is likely to pass whereas Kobe is going to get up a shot. Simple as that.

I think there is a gap between LeBron and Durant, and that's with Durant having one of the best offensive seasons in recent memory. Durant's efficiency is insane. The reason : LeBron on the defensive end is Pippen on steroids. He can legitimately guard 1 through 5 and shut them down. Guy can check DRose and Al Jefferson and everyone in between.

Not 'hey he scored 45 and they won by 20!'
So now you want to change the criteria?

When you score 45 in a playoff game it's absolutely a clutch performance. That's some bullshit.

So the only time you're clutch is when you play sick?

He hit the game winner against Indiana in OT with Shaq fouling out very early in the OT session.

I have no idea what physical condition Kobe was in for those games that I listed.

He wasn't in the triangle in 96-97, 97-98, 98-99, the Rudy T year and the last 2.

So because LeBron wants to defer that's a plus?

so right now we have his one clutch NBA Finals performance in that Indy game. I'll give him that.

I want 3 more of those. 3 more of those games where he won them the game down the stretch with CLOSER play.

off the top of my head his playoff performance against Detroit in that one game was unbelievable...where he scored like 50 and his teams final 28 points or something ludicrous like that

his whole postseason last year was just unbelievable...and his shut down performance against D Rose in the ECF 2 years ago was insane...

there is a few games I'm not remembering the specifics but I think he's had 3 playoff moments where I thought "MJ-esque"
