Moderating is a completely thankless job around here - no matter what you do (or don't do), you get bitched at for it.

So, with that...**** all of you, and goodnight.
at planet-rugby.net, the mods used to be anonymous. It prevented bitching at mods. I think they changed it but only because a change is as good as a holiday.

so why was he banned? I thought he was a bit of a tool but fairly harmless.

That Dane was a polarising character wasn't he. There are laments of his passing in this very thread. I thought he was an obnoxious c**t with some sort of small man syndrome.

Dane could troll with the best but if you took a moment to get to know him he cared deeply about people. Cross him and he's your worst nightmare but reach out and you had a loyal friend for life. Strange dynamic, naturally.

I guess it's different for those who know each other personally. I also think mods probably give their mates a bit more slack than those they don't know in person.

Nothing really wrong with that though, it's only a football forum.

And you were right to think so. Dane was a mid-west boy who couldn't make the adjustment to the LA highlife without dropping names on message boards and solidifying his believed superior position in life.

When he couldn't have his way, he took his football and went home.

He's yet another profile in courage, internet-style. Mother**** him in the neck...

It was strange, I wouldn't admit to that for a long time. I mean, I've banned friends for breaking the rules but yes, naturally, a guy we know in person and like is probably going to have a better go of it than a random anonymous guy.

See? Here's a guy who never warmed to Dane. I've chatted with Dane on the phone and we're friends off the board. I'm not mad at any of them. I know why people dislike him. I don't blame them. I know why he does the stuff he does too. Most of it is good fun.
