The real reason Democrats push global warming. Campaign money

Environmentalist and Democrat mega-donor accused of hypocrisy

With his increasing visibility and political involvement, San Francisco environmentalist and mega-Democratic campaign donor Tom Steyer is making Democrats a rich target for hypocrisy, critics say.

Steyer has pledged $100 million this year to elect Democrats who are committed to fighting global warming and the Keystone XL pipeline.

He was in Washington Wednesday for private meetings at the White House and to promote his "Risky Business" project, which attempts to get American business to adapt to climate change.

In a previous meeting Tuesday in New York, Steyer told reporters, "We need to reward people whose behavior reduces climate risk and penalize people who add to it."

By that measure, Steyer himself might well be due for punishment. Critics say Steyer made his fortune, in part, from fossil fuels - the very energy source he now condemns - while he was a hedge fund manager at Farallon Capital Management, a firm he founded.

"This is somebody who really made his fortune largely investing in fossil fuels who now wants to close off the ability to use fossil fuels to a lot of other people who aren't as wealthy," said Phil Kerpen, president of the conservative political action committee American Commitment.

Earlier this month, The Washington Post reported, "Steyer said in 2012 that he was halting his 'ecologically unsound' investments, a review of his ties to the $20 billion hedge fund he led for two decades shows that he is only now becoming fully divested from energy firms linked to climate change."

Kerpen has produced online ads that attack Steyer and the Democratic candidates he is supporting in the upcoming midterm elections. One ad commences with a narrator's voice saying, "Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid is on the attack..." It then cuts to a sound bite of Reid on the Senate floor saying, "What is un-American is when shadowy billionaires pour unlimited money into our democracy to rig the system..."

It is a not so subtle jab at Reid's repeated references to the Koch Brothers - the Kansas libertarian billionaires who contribute mightily to conservative causes and candidates and who are regularly demonized by Reid and other Democrats.

Asked at Tuesday's press briefing whether he had any misgivings about Steyer's visit to the White House, given the prohibition against political activities there, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said, "I have no misgivings about the individuals who are participating in that meeting. Their political activities notwithstanding, the administration is committed to making progress in addressing the causes of climate change and reducing carbon pollution."

In April of 2013, President Obama, and Congressional Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Reid attended a fundraiser at Steyer's Bay area mansion. Kerpen said that shortly after that fundraiser, the entire Democratic party's messaging began to change.

"I think that's where the hardball really started," he said. "Because we saw a couple weeks after that the Democrats took to the Senate floor and spoke all night about climate change and Tom Steyer applauded them for that."

Some Democrats, especially those in tough re-election battles in energy rich states, are said to be fuming over the Steyer White House visit. One of them told the Washington Examiner, "If a Republican president did the same thing with the Koch brothers, we would skewer them."

Because propaganda works.

False = Your attempt to convince people that these countries were planning to decrease emissions by 2020.

We're not talking about nitpicking here, we're talking about a failure on the part of these developing countries to stop increasing emissions, much less reduce them (or even commit to doing so).
Explore the links. They show that the developing world is quite committed to reducing carbon emissions.

The first link of mine that you quoted was from 2011, showing a great many countries already committed to carbon emissions. In it, China had not yet committed to emissions reduction. So yeah, that was your gotcha. But in the later link I gave you from late 2013, they had committed to considerable emissions reduction.

This is from the most recent link. It illustrates both what China has done so far(energy consumption per unit GDP has decreased by 26.4 percent over the past eight years and over 2.35 billion tons of CO2 have been cut, a 28 percent drop in carbon intensity), in addition to what they plan to do:

He stressed that the Warsaw Conference should urge all, especially those developed countries, to ratify the Amendment to the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol as soon as possible. "If developed countries follow the requirement of a scientific report [Emission Gap Report 2013 released by United Nations Environment Program] by increasing their emission reduction targets to 40 percent by 2020, the so-called gap in emission reduction efforts would no longer exist," he said.

Xie also pointed out the achievements that China has made thus far in dealing with air pollution issues and addressing climate change, given that China's energy consumption per unit GDP has decreased by 26.4 percent over the past eight years and over 2.35 billion tons of CO2 have been cut, a 28 percent drop in carbon intensity. The stock volume of forest in China has increased by 1.723 billion cubic meters, exceeding the target of 1.3 billion cubic meters, he said.

Moreover, Xie said China has undertaken a series of new actions to deal with climate change since 2012, such as the launch of China's first National Low Carbon Day and the carbon exchange pilot project. Furthermore, China has carried out South-South cooperation and has continuously provided US$10 million each year to support capacity building in other developing countries since 2011.

So China, the leading polluter, has already reduced emissions. And are committed to do more.

No. Read it again. China has slowed the growth of it's emissions, partly because of the global economic slowdown btw. It has not reduced it's emissions, nor is there any commitment to do so by 2020. That's the 3rd or 4th time I've pointed this out.

From your falsely labelled "has already reduced emissions" link:

new research shows the growth of emissions from China, the world's biggest emitter, may be slowing

The ClimateChanger$ will be all over the hate on this event.....

By Alan Caruba

From July 7 to 9, the ninth International Conference on Climate Change will convene in Las Vegas in a dramatic demonstration that “global warming” was a huge hoax and the claims that “climate change” is responsible for everything are a continuation of that fraud.

As a policy advisor to The Heartland Institute, a Chicago-based free market think tank, I attended its first climate change conference held in New York in 2009 to dispute the “science” advancing global warming. I have been writing about the hoax that gained momentum since James Edward Hansen testified before congressional committees in 1988. From 1981 to 2013 Hansen had been the head of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies.

Along with other government agencies like the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, NASA has been producing data that routinely tampers with climate statistics to maintain the hoax that gained an international platform with the creation of the United Nations International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in 1998.

In June a Pew Research Center poll announced that 35% of Americans say there is not enough solid evidence to suggest mankind is warming the Earth while another 18% says the world has warmed due to “natural patterns” and not human activity. That’s a total of 53% who disagree with the lies about climate change being told by President Obama and a host of politicians and scientists who have received millions to maintain the hoax. The poll also noted that 40% of Americans still believe that mankind is causing the planet to warm. They likely represent the cohort that has graduated from American schools whose curriculum has taught the Al Gore version of science.

Among the participants in Heartland’s 9th conference are Habibulio Abdussamatov, a Russian astrophysicist; Sonya Boehmer-Christiansen, a research analyst from Great Britain; Fred Goldberg, an associated professor at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden; Madhav Khandekar, a research analyst from Environment Canada; William Kinimonth who worked with the Australian Bureau of Meteorology for 38 years; and Lord Christopher Monckton, Viscount of Brenchley, a chief policy advisor to the Science and Public Policy Institute. They will be joined by American scientists, longtime skeptics of the hoax, often called “deniers” by those advocating it.

It is doubtful that the U.S. media will give much, if any, news coverage of the conference, but the eight previous conferences have done much to debunk and dispel the deluge of lies about the Earth’s climate.

Leading Heartland has been its president, Joseph Bast, who asks “How can there be a ‘scientific consensus’ on the causes or consequences of climate change when thousands of scientists, economists, and policy experts attend conferences devoted to expressing the opposite theme, that the science is still unsettled and climate change is not a crisis?” In May Bast was joined by research scientist, Roy Spencer, in a Wall Street Journal commentary that debunked the lie that 97% of scientists support climate change, noting that “surveys of meteorologists repeatedly find a majority oppose the alleged consensus.”

Heartland has been a sponsor of the Non-Governmental Panel on Climate Change, a rival to the UN’s IPCC that continues to issue reports filled with claims of climate-related threats to mankind. The Obama administration recently released its National Climate Assessment echoing the IPCC claims, blaming all climate events on humankind. Common sense tells us that that events like Hurricane Arthur are natural and reflect the 4.5 billion year old Earth’s ongoing and ever-changing climate cycles.

Indeed, the Earth has been in a cooling cycle for seventeen years, something the climate change advocates are calling “a pause” in their global warming claims. Unknown to most Americans is that the Earth is at the end of its 11,500 year old interglacial cycle, suggesting that we are all in for a new ice age.

The global warming/climate change hoax is rooted in the claim that “greenhouse gases”, primarily carbon dioxide (CO2) has caused the warming that is not occurring. Ironically, CO2 continues to accelerate in the atmosphere and, rather than a cause for concern, represent very good news for every piece of vegetation from crops to forests as it is as vital to their existence as oxygen is for humans and all other animals. The Earth has had periods when its presence was much higher.

The conference expects to draw several hundred attendees this year, but those who want to follow its panels, lectures, and discussions can do so via the Heartland website that will live-stream them. It can be followed as well via Twitter @HeartlandInst and on Facebook at Facebook.com/Heartland using the hashtag #ICCC9. Heartland will post the sessions on its YouTube page after the conference ends.

We all owe a debt of gratitude to the skeptics who have courageously disputed the global warming/climate change hoax and to The Heartland Institute that has provided a platform for them to gather to continue their efforts to educate a public that has been deluged by a massive deception.
