Movies

Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

Oscar weekend for me. Watched The Social Network last night, and the wife and I did a double-header at the theater tonight watching The King's Speech and Black Swan. Three damn good movies. I've now seen 7 of the 10 nominations (True Grit, Toy Story 3, Inception and Winter's Bone the other four). Right now, I'd probably give the slight edge to The King's Speech, but Inception, Social Network and Black Swan are right there IMO.

Watched The Mechanic tonight. Thought it was pretty good.
If you like Jason Statham you'll like this movie.

My fiancee' and I saw The Roommate last night. We both liked it. The girl that played the creepy roommate did a good job convincing you she was psycho.

It doesn't take a lot to convince me that a woman is a psycho. Breasts are usually a pretty good indication.

Ah, I see what you mean now. I thought the other 4 were the ones you hadn't seen yet. I guess it was a reading fail, although in my defense there is a bit of ambiguity too. The fault is mine though because I should have resolved any ambiguity in the way that assumed you could add simple numbers.

Here's a good one for the situation:

It was a trifle ambiguous.

the other four I [have/have not] seen.

I thought his post was very clear.

He has seen ten.
Three this weekend. Named four more that makes seven.
if he had said seven of eleven it would have been confusing.

I thought it was clear too. Then he explained to me what he really meant and I recognized the ambiguity as well as my interpretation fail.

No, you just missed the ambiguity in the opposite direction as I did. You read it clearly the way he intended it and I read it clearly the way he didn't. It's no big deal, as it's been cleared up now, but since I pulled the "math fail" jpeg on him, I owed him a mea culpa for my fail.

No big deal. It's always interesting how things are interpreted, even when you the writer/speaker think it's very clear.
