Does anyone remember Carlos Carson?

I'm in a fantasy league with some guys from a fantasy site. We each took an NFl team, and then had a random team from the opposite conference assigned to us. I got the Saints.

It was an IDP league (defensive players), so sucky offensive teams would have a chance as well). So then, we could only draft players from guys who have played or are playing for your fantasy team. So guys like Tony Gonzalez (only played for the Chiefs), LJ, Joe Horn (only with Chiefs and Saints), Stallworth, etc. were exzclusively mine. I could wait until the last rounds to drfat those guys.

it was the guys like priest (ravens and chiefs), donnie edwards, aaron brooks I had to fight for.

Anyways, some of us in that league made this bet where we would send something representing our team to the winner of the whole thing if we lost. I ended up winning the damn thing and got some pretty cool stuff from the Lions guy so far.

But the buffalo bills guy sent me an old NFL Topps card. Of Carlos Carson.

Who the fock is Carlos Carson?

I just checked, and it probably was Hayes he was talking about -- Hayes played longer than I thought with KC, starting in the early 80s; Beckman's career ended after 84. Still, it's weird that I'd think of Beckman and not Hayes.

I remember seeing "highlights" of a game on tv where there were 11,000 people. I remember the sportscaster saying "there's the 11 people who came to the game...actually it was about 11,000." I felt slightly ashamed for some reason. I was very young and just coming into being a fan. I actually thought Gary Spani and Gary Barbaro were great players who could take us to the Super-Bowl.

Yeah, I may have worked that game, too. In 1982, there was a NFL strike. The late-season games that year were not well attended at Arrowhead. I missed the Jets game that year because of car trouble, but that sparsely attended game could have been against the 49ers or the Raiders. If I recall correctly, there weren't many fans at that Raiders game and the Raiders won late in the 4th-quarter, but my memory might be wrong. Here's the 1982 entry in the Chiefs War Room:

Carlos Carson was one of Bill Kenney's favorite receivers in the 1980's. He played during he same era with Henry Marshall (from Mizzou) and Stephone Paige. He was on the smallish size, kind of like Santana Moss is now for the NY Jets. Good speed, deep threat. Played for a lot of mediocre teams. Chiefs usually went 6-10 up to around 8-8 during those years. He had a better than average NFL career. I don't think he played anywhere else (and if so not for long) after he left the Chiefs, so he was pretty much a career Chiefs player. I also believe he was a number one draft pick out of LSU, but I'd have to go back to the record book and check that.

I think he played in Minneesoota with Jaycie Pearson for a year or two.
