Interesting take on Sunday's matchup between Tyrone Wheatly and Marvcus Patton.

Hey Ugly_Duck,

Harmon has been about as good as Vegas in handicapping the Chiefs this year: they've predicted the victors in all the games but Denver. Also, the spreads from Harmon and Vegas have been pretty close to each other and, hence, about equally good at predicting the final margin of victory.

But Harmon hasn't been that good with the Raiders. Both he and Vegas are 3-2 in picking the winner (each missed the Raider's road win at Indy and Denver's road win against Oakland). But when it comes to margin of victory, Harmon has been a full TD worse, on average, than Vegas.

Bob Dole didn't forget...just conveniently left it out. (Kind of like not mentioning the Harmon Forecast Monday when Bob Dole read it.)

I totally disagree with that 'war room' eval of Marvcus Patton. Patton is smaller and quick enough to be useful in coverage, but he's a very good tackler and stuffs the run well. Problem is, we do so much stunting and all out penetration with our D-linemen, he rarely has the opportunity to make the play unimpeded. He almost always has to fight through a guard 5 yards deep to make the play. He's done a great job stuffing the run at Buffalo, and then in Washington.

I do think they (War Room) are dead on with how the raiders will play us. We've done a poor job stuffing the run in general and they should run up the gut at us. This game should be really tough. The Raiders D-line can really bring the heat, and Elvis wont get as much protection as he's had lately. Their CBs are pretty good too and they might make Elvis pay for some of those balls he's been forcing into tight coverage lately. On the otherhand, they have to worry about Tony G. who should have a huge game.

On the other side Gannon's ability to scramble concerns me, and unlike McNair he can hit his receivers. As far off as we've had our corners play, I expect to see lots of underneath stuff and runs up the gut. Gannon's not accurate enough with the deep ball for me to worry about that. We've got to shut down the run and force Gannon to try and beat us. He'll make some mistakes and we should get some tunronvers.
