It's just ensures a true end of the game, no need to risk injury on the PAT or the ensuing kick off, and there's always that tiny possibility that Dallas returns the next kick for a TD and the process would repeat itself.

That's the conclusion I came to, anyways. :P

You really only need to slide if youre tied.

If you're down you need to score because you can't risk not getting the TD.

If you're up by any number of points, there's pretty much no chance of them scoring with 20 seconds left.

It was smart of Hall just for the fact that his teammates could be injured on the PAT, kickoff, or last couple of defensive plays had he run in for the TD.

Less than 20 seconds to go, and you can go up by two scores if you run two more open yards. At a minimum you're up by 13 points, an the you think in those less than 20 seconds you think the Cowboys will get two TDs. Instead you leave the chance for a fumble with 20 seconds and a one-play TD to tie.

He should have run it in...
