TV Alert: 1992 Chiefs on ESPN Classic

I remember a few games from that year.

Kicked Philly's azz when everybody thought they were the best team.

Great last minute in against the Chargers at Arrowhead. Watched that game on Armed Forces TV in Italy.

I listened to the Chiefs Redskins game on Armed forces radio. Sonny Jurgenson was on the Redskins broadcast. Kreig started with an incompletion, and Jurgenson was calling Krieg one of the worst QBs in the NFL, Krieg then completed a bunch of passes and had 250 yds. by halftime.

Sam Huff said to Jurgenson, I thought you said this guy can't play. Never forget listening to that game.

I'll bet that Carter is the only Chief ever who scored the first time he touched the ball. (Am I remembering that right? I seem to recall that he returned a punt for a touchdown in his first game.)

That would be correct. Kevin Ross picked one off and took it the house as well out in Sandy Eggo.

But then they drilled us in the playoffs that year. The game that finally made Marty and Carl decide they needed to go get some offense, go with the West Coast style and pick up Montana and Allen.

Touche. That was a fun season, no doubt. Great defense, mediocre offense who couldn't even score one TD in the playoff game.

Say, there is one game I'd love to watch again. Anyone have that Monday night game in 1991 where Buffalo came in as favorites and the Chiefs ran all over them? I gotta see that one again. As I recall, both Okoye and Word had 100 yards rushing.

Wasn't that the game KC was up like 28-0 at the half?

Yeah. Philly had the best D from the last year. They were #1 in run and pass defense.
If I remember right the Chiefs opened the game with a bomb for a touchdown.Everyonde expected the usually run oriented Chiefs offense.

Thanks.

I was on vacation and happened to be in Cincy and was going to a Bengals-Oilers game.I'd gotten around late and walked into a bar with my Chiefs gear on and heard someone yell CHIEFS!Ended up being a guy who was a transplant from KC and we finished watching the game together.
