That could be...at least for now. Do you think that will change if/when they get left out of the playoffs for teams with the same number of losses but a CCG win?

I mean, there are five major conferences, and four of them play a CCG. Do you really think the other conferences aren't going to set things up to reward the extra win? There is zero chance that the Big 12 would have had a representative in a playoff this year.

So payouts mean more than title shots? I thought the whole point of big payouts was to position your teams for on-field results. Payouts for the sake of payouts are pointless.

A one loss Big 12 team isn't getting left out of the playoff.

Besides. It will probably be going to 8 teams soon anyway. A four team playoff doesn't make a lot of sense. Texas already has said they pretty much won't even be recognizing a 4 team playoff champ.

I agree that it will likely go to eight, but it will be several years first. Zero chance that a Big 12 team makes it last year, and that's with an undefeated Ohio State being left out.

Well, with last year you had a fluke with Notre Dame being undefeated. Had they been their usual self (like they will be this year and for years to come) their would have been a Big 12 team in. It was a great year for Big 12 football top to bottom but no they didn't have a team like Alabama (surprise, no one did).

If any conference doesn't have a deserving team in the top 4 then they shouldn't have a spot. There will be five conferences plus all the other schools in America. Obviously someone will be left out every year. A Champ game isn't going to determine that.

Why are you constantly trying to put down the Big 12? What does this do for you? Your school left and now plays in the best football conference in America with zero recruits above 3 stars.

Let's say that some slapdick mid-major runs the table next year. Then, let's say that Alabama, Oregon, Ohio State, and FSU go 12-1, while TCU goes 11-1. Any chance in hell that TCU gets in?

I'm not putting down the conference at all. I'm actually really impressed at how well they came out of this. I want it to do well, and I'll admit that I'm biased in that I want Cincy to get in. I think they are at a major disadvantage by being the only conference without a CCG.

I would say it would come down to how TCU won their games and the ranking. We've seen lots of "not so great" one loss teams throughout the history of CFB.

But, if the scenario you put forth here happens then I think we'll see a push to 8 sooner than later.

You're going to run into legal issues right away if an "undefeated" mid major doesn't get a chance to play for the NC. That's just what America is. Realignment isn't keeping anyone out. It never will. The courts will make sure of that.
