**** no!
Noodle arm, one year wonder QB who was protected by his head coach. He would come to a team with a shit offensive coordinator and a failed Head Coach. This franchise is ****ed for another 3 years. |

Yep I think I'd rather draft tannehill and have a possible failure compared to known failure

I suppose it would be competition...however little that might be.
Alex only did something under Harbaugh so that makes you wonder. I think the two are pretty equal myself. You can probably kiss any time for Stanzi to see the field goodbye as a Chief if Smith comes here.

Cassel and Smith are not similar. Cassel has at LEAST had two very good seasons, statistically. Smith? Zero. In 7 seasons. Smith is absolutely garbage. It's amazing, it's like some people never really watch other teams. He was nothing more than Trent Dilfer last year. Except not as good. Even Dilfer had better seasons.

Put it like this, most people attribute Cassels past success to playing the NFC West in 2010 and 2009. Well Smith has played the NFC west his whole career and has never looked good.
At his best, he's as good as Cassel, which is sad. Posted via Mobile Device |

Not Cassel usually wins for me. I have my doubts about Smith. Has looked good on occassion, but really Cassel 2010 = Alex Smith 2012. If its Alex Smith or Brady Quinn, its a no-brainer. Its a could be vs a never been

Smith would be by far the best option out there next to Manning. He's all you need for this offense this year, we could easily when the division with him. He rarely turned the ball over last year, and if you watched the playoffs, actually stepped up and made some awesome plays.

I think many people on this board don't watch the Niners. Last year Smith was money. The year before he was fairly good. He is a better QB than Cassel, hands down. Just compare their college careers.
It often takes a long time for QBs to get good in this league, but Smith has more to work with and sees the field much better than ol' Mattie. ---- And for those who say that Smith's year last year was a fluke because of Harbaugh, what does that say about Luck?

Both of them suck and despite getting to play the NFC West every year, Smith has had only one decent season. That tells you how shitty he is.

Alex Smith visiting the Dolphins today
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...olphins-today/ Alex Smith is tired of waiting around for the 49ers to learn whether they’ve won the Peyton Manning sweepstakes. So Smith is looking elsewhere. Smith will visit the Dolphins today, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. After having his best year as a pro and leading the 49ers to the NFC Championship Game last season, it appeared that Smith was going to be in San Francisco for the long haul. But Smith is an unrestricted free agent and hasn’t worked out a deal with the 49ers yet, because the 49ers are making Manning their top priority. That puts Smith in a tough position. So it makes sense for Smith to stop waiting and start looking around for another team. The Dolphins, who want to sign a starting quarterback and were spurned by Manning, could make sense for Smith, especially if free agent quarterback Matt Flynn picks the Seahawks over the Dolphins. The 49ers spent the first overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft on Smith, and he has spent his entire career there. In 2011 Smith started all 16 games and had career highs in passing yards (3,144) and passer rating (90.7) while throwing just five interceptions. And now the pressure is on the 49ers to get something done at the quarterback position: If Smith signs with the Dolphins, and Manning chooses the Broncos or Titans, last season’s NFC runner ups will have a major question mark at quarterback.
