This Week's Gambling Thread (10/14 - 10/20)

First of all, and most importantly - Some of you had a great week (Gaz, jc, morph, etc), and we had one more casualty, Lattimer. I can't get to updating the front page as I have an important work matter to complete. I will update it as soon as possible. However, the other pages are updated.

1. Go to the Leaderboard to insure your name is on the list of competitors this season. Also check your totals.

2. If your name appears then you can go to 10/19/03 Odds to get the info to place your bets. Refresh the page BEFORE you decide on your bets.

3. Come back here and place your bets.

I will take your bets from this page and place them on the web page listed in #2 above.

I STRONGLY advice that you refresh the pages before referring to them, especially if you have cookies activated.

Also note this very important fact: You are responsible for insuring your bets are placed accurately. Check it to insure your bets are correct. Remember - only you can prevent bad bet placement

IMPORTANT RULE - DO NOT EDIT YOUR BETS AFTER YOU HAVE PLACED THEM. INSTEAD START A NEW REPLY WITH THE WORDS "CHANGE BET(S)" AT THE BEGINNING OF THE POST

This will help me in keeping up with bet placement and changes without becoming an accountant and referee.

Scores are as follows:
1 Gaz 43,653
2 jcl-kcfan2 38,712
3 morphius 36,200

I've got a question because I'm kind of dumb when it comes to this stuff. What is this money column with the +(some huge number) and -(some huge number)? I really don't understand what it is or how it works. Any clarity would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm new to this kind of stuff, but I think it goes something like this:

You are betting on a team to win regardless of the points. The + number is how much you would get for a bet of $100. The - number is how much you have to bet to win $100.

Example: KC -180 Oak +150

If you bet $5,000 on KC -180 & they won, you would win $100 for every $180 you bet. So you would win $2,778 on top of your original bet.

If you bet $5,000 on Oak +150, you would win $150 for every $100 bet. So you would win $7,500 on top of your original bet.

I think that's how it works anyway.
