A few random thoughts on the game...
THE GOOD STUFF: • That was the D I hoped Gunther would bring to town. Attack the backfield and feast on Enemy miscues. I love you, Gun! • The loss of Holmes diminishes certain aspects of our rushing attack [the perimeter and passing games], but Johnson brings a nice set of skills to the table. Speed, power and a big old dose of ‘tude. I would like to see more swing passes to him. Johnson Vs a DB brings a smile to my face. • Jared Allen is fun to watch. The hit he put on Brady [which ended up being an incomplete pass] was textbook. Wrap him up, put him on his back and then fall on him. A classic QB crushing. • Green was on-target yesterday. Maybe having Big Willie in there increases the comfort level. • Mitchell continues to impress me. It is a good thing that the staff ignored the fans when they screamed “bust” over Kawika. I am also very impressed with Johnson. I can only hope that Bell will make more of an impact in the future. On the whole, the Chiefs’ LB corps has gone from a weakness to a strength. • Parker did a fine job. Nary a drop that I can recall. And good games from Gonzalez, Kennison and Hall. • One more time, thank goodness for Colquitt & Tynes. How refreshing to feel confident about the kickers. • Great game by the much-maligned secondary. Big hits in run support and good coverage on the Patriots’ WRs. 4 INTs is a nice, round number. • Willie is back. • Brady’s QB rating was dreadful. Good stuff. • The Arrowhead crowd was great. Several time outs can be credited to the noise. They brought their A game. THE NOT-SO-GOOD STUFF: • Special Teams blocking and coverage teams are pretty bad. We are either out of position or blocking in the back. A little more discipline, please. • Red Zone Offense. 4 FGs is 12 points, but a couple of TDs would have iced the game much earlier. Personally, I think this will improve as Roaf gets back into game form. • We need more push from the DTs. We will get Sims back, but I expect him to take a while to get into game form. • Willie showed some rust. He was flat-out abused on one of Green’s sacks. The big guy is recovering from a hamstring, so he gets a lot of slack. I simply do not care if the Patriots were riddled with injury. We dominated a team that we should have dominated. We righteously abused the NFL’s “golden boy” QB and won another “must win” game. I need no disclaimers to enjoy this victory. xoxo~ Gaz Basking in the afterglow. |
