What is your "prized possession"?

During the discussion on the DC board there was a debate on whether you should be able to kill someone stealing your stuff. I won't get back to that but I did want to know: what is your #1 possession you own? I.e., what would you walk through fire to retrieve?

I can honestly say I don't even have one. I wouldn't care if my house burnt down. I really changed many years ago when I had my first child. At that point I didn't give a squirt about anything I owned. Truth.

The closest thing I have would be my ball glove given to me by my dad when I was 7. It was autographed by Catfish Hunter (for those who don't remember he was good in the 70s). Maybe it will take on greater significance when my dad passes since he's quite old now.

Anyway here's a photo of the model:

Way cool, i actually have that fourth DT with Score, a nice card.

The DJ is sweeet, a great example of the modern cards, same with the Priest jersey... the new stuff is just sooo much more appealing and better looking.

I got a Jamaal Charles autographed rookie card with a piece of a game ball and game jersey on the same card as well. Was a present for my buddy who helped me move down here. It was a sweet card....I almost wanted to keep it for myself!

Regardless of what some of my favorite cards are worth, they aren't ever getting sold because I like just having them. Just an example of an over-saturated card market, that DT Score rookie, which I have as well, used to be worth +$30 and is now worth less than $5.

I would keep some of the autograph and game jersey cards of players I like, but even the ones of players I don't give two shits about just aren't worth anything anymore. And to think of how much I spent to get all of those cards!

I'm sticking to strictly autographed and authenticated memorabilia from now on like bats, balls and jerseys.
I don't see how modern cards are worth anything. Manufacturers realized that they can produce something for a penny that people are paying $20 for, so of course they're going to glut the market with them. The whole concept of a collectible is having a limited supply, and there's no limit on the supply of cardboard with printing on it.

On a related note, I find it funny when I see a new item that says "collectible" on it. You can pretty much guarantee that any new item that says "collectible" will never be worth anything, because people will save them because of the label.

They've gotten smart and done what you have said and limit the production of card sizes. Many of the autographed and game used cards are numbered production today. That autographed/game used card of Jamaal Charles I bought was limited production to 299. Some basic rookie cards are even numbered production now.

My mom passed away a couple years ago. I inherited a great deal of stuff when my father sold the house and moved to a condo. None of it has a price as far as I'm concerned. It's all stuff from my childhood and some of it can never be replaced even without the sentimental value.

I hope and pray we never have a fire...

We were just talking about this. Although it may seem like I have been a little ridiculous with the way I've been swapping and replacing bikes, I'm all set now. I'm pretty attached to my bike.
