Obama Buys Debt Ceiling Debacle - Rejects GOP Offer

Obama Rejects G.O.P. Offer of Short-Term Debt Limit Plan

By JACKIE CALMES and ASHLEY PARKER

At a meeting at the White House, President Obama turned down the proposal from Republicans to extend the nation’s borrowing authority for six weeks because it would not also reopen the government.

I have a thread dedicated to why this is wrong. I think had the GOP not made such a stink about Obamacare and tried to force it's delay... the Dems would have implemented their own delay after finding out how unready the system was. The Dems could have saved their asses (Donkey joke!) with very little political fallout and now they have to simply swallow Obamacare whole, as is.

That's merely my calling card; my exclamation point. What...you skip over everything leading to that, or just pretend you don't see the arguments?

FOR EXAMPLE, your thoughts on one of my other posts from this thread?

Quote:
Oh, good...let's feign indignation over an argument that tea party folks keep bringing up ad nauseam--and over a straw man yet! As if health care costs haven't been going through the roof for the last 30 years anyway! If by "forced to work longer" you mean actually earning the benefits that a longer life expectancy of modern life has gifted us--despite a current program designed for benefits meant to last about half as long as they now do...well yeah, that would be reasonable. If and when you want to talk about serious reform, on the other hand...there are pleny of us on your side for that discussion.

Of course instead, most of the navel-gazing self-absorbed Boomers I encounter in this backwater republic want to have their cake and eat it too; early retirement AND free-loading off of your children and grandchildren for twice as long as the program was designed for....so that you can squeeze in a few more cruises or hit the casinos on every weekend! Talk about self-entitled narcissism and real greed...

Yeah all those people who can't get private health insurance now, like my general contractor uncle, are gonna be so pissed off at the dems come 2014. Good point.

I wonder if China will turn over the debt to collections for the 3 trillion we owe them?

If that's your idea of "state funded" you are crazier than I thought....
Who signs your checks? GM, IBM, or a taxpayer funded entity?

Actually it's more like 6% which, is matched with another 6% taxpayer money. And since it is mandatory that money is actually paid straight to SDRS. The only reason you claim it as salary is, that 6%, is tax deductible. So in reality you're using my tax dollars to fund a supplemental retirement account, screw other federal taxpayers, all while bitching at the rest of us that we live too long and shouldn't expect a return investment on a contract we've had with the government since we started working 40 years ago.

This the kind of thinking that comes from living in a government supported bubble.

Btw does it seem kind of quiet around here? Usually it's like 4-1 extreme conservatives vs. anything else. Where are the usual cast of right-wing ranters and ravers? Are they disgusted with all this or just mollified by the Chiefs winning?
