Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

It is an absolute dream.

Love could be blinding me to it's flaws, but it's perfect IMO. My .38 642 hasn't rode my hip since I got the XDs. I got a Versa Carry "holster" and the combo is fantastic.

It is a great little pistol, true story: my friend had a Kimber 1911, we are talking an $1,100 1911. He had it a few years but was disappointed with it's overall quality. I fired it at one time and it kicked like a damn mule. Furthermore, even though he cleaned it religiously after shooting it (which wasn't often) and even upgraded the trigger, it still had issues that I'm not going to go into detail about.

Ok, so my friend buys and XDs and loves it. He shoots it all the time and he flat out says it's better than the Kimber, period. So he ends up selling the Kimber (for what he paid for it $1,100) and keeping the XDs.

Nice. It's second on my list of guns to purchase. AK 74 will be here tomorrow. I was trying to purchase both at the same time, don't think it'll happen.

I am still better with my S&W 1911 when it comes to target shooting, but the XDS is no slouch even though it has roughly half the barrel.

The trigger is what surprised me. It reminds me of a two-stage, the first part of the trigger pull is very light, and the last part is crisp and short.

I still intend on buying a 1911 at some point and time but I'd like the new S&W scallopped .45 and those a pricey. The story with my friend's Kimber is that, yes, he needed the money because he was moving but the only reason he sold the Kimber is because the XDS made the Kimber expendable.

I'm all for keeping guns due to long term value. But my friend was just tired of the Kimber problems and when a guy offered him as much money as he paid for it, and he had the XDS, and he was moving (sometimes when you move you sell stuff) he got rid of the Kimber.

But when he shot the XDS at the range, he was very, very pleased with it. Especially after the Kimber issues.

Remember all outdoorsmen are adept at using camo. Just remember not all camo is green or tan, sometimes it's a polo or a collared shirt!

Nice purchase.

I'd love to have the 10/22 Takedown.

.22 ammo is still a bitch to find, though.

I know that I am way to particular.
I know it looks out of place "not from the same era" but you're better of with the big scope, better optics and the lens size has way better light gathering ability than the old WWII scopes Unless it's a Bushnell or something cheap that will fog up on you when you might need it keep it IMO.

They also had a 10/22 "tactical" model that had a laser sight and a couple rails. It was kind of cool, but I just couldn't convince myself that I needed a laser on my .22

WTH man no 10/22 is complete without an m203 grenade launcher attached to it!
