Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

Magpul is giving away 1,500 free mags in Glendale, CO to the first 1,500 people through the gate at their pro-2nd Amendment event today.

http://www.freecolorado.net/

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013...mmo-magazines/

Quote:
With just days to go before Colorado's strict new gun control law is set to take effect, gun accessories manufacturer Magpul says it plans to distribute 1,500 30-round magazines to gun owners for free.

The company, which has vowed to leave the state over the law, will take part in what organizers are calling a "Farewell to Arms Festival," on Saturday in Glendale, KDVR.com reports.

Magpul plans to give away magazines to the first 1,500 attendees and participants will also be able to buy up to three magazines for $10 each, according to the report.

Glendale Deputy City Manager Chuck Line told the station the event will be the "last opportunity" for residents to obtain standard capacity magazines for the AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.

In March, Gov. John Hickenlooper signed bills that would require background checks for private and online gun sales and ban ammunition magazines that hold more than 15 rounds.

The company said in April that PMAG magazines, which can hold 10 to 30 rounds, were being made outside of Colorado for the first time and that sights were also being made elsewhere.

Officials and gun owners in various states, including Wyoming and Alaska, have tried to lure Magpul. The Erie-based company employs more than 200 people and generates about $85 million in annual taxable revenues.

In a posting on its Facebook page Wednesday, the company said it is in final negotiations for "the biggest portion" of its move out of state and hopes to make announce a new location before the end of July.

Gun rights supporters have been unhappy with the strict new measures that will expand background checks for gun purchases and limit the size of ammunition magazines.

A handful of Democratic state lawmakers in Colorado face recall petition efforts over legislative votes to limit gun rights after last year's Aurora, Colo., and Newtown, Conn., shooting massacres.

The secretary of state's office has said that recall petitions against state Senate President John Morse and Sen. Angela Giron have enough signatures to force recall elections.

Heh nice. One last little kick in the nuts before they pack up, move out of the state and take their 200 plus jobs with them. I still can't believe that CO has changed that much in the last 10 years. Did a bunch of out of state Californians/New Yorkers move in or what?

Magpul is not the only business that's saying the hell with this and pulling out.

Denver-based Lawrence Tool & Molding announced in February that it would take jobs and machinery out of the state if Magpul relocates.

Bonus, early last month, HiViz Shooting Systems http://www.hivizsights.com/ said it would relocate operations outside of Colorado due to the gun-control measures passed by state lawmakers. The company, based in Fort Collins, makes gun sights and recoil pads.

This is going to end up costing CO hundreds of jobs.

I chickened out and couldn't wait. It came with a soft case and 4 mags. Waffen werks seems like a good ak from what I researched. I went with the wood furniture. I might add a folding stock or black furniture later.
Nice choice.

I love my WW AK-74 that I bought from Atlantic Firearms a few months ago.

Time to start stocking up on ammo. If you're looking for some non-corrosive 5.45x39, this is probably the cheapest you'll find.

I bought 2 cases of that, along with 2 crates of Bulgarian milsurp ammo when I got my AK.

Nice GB I looked at them a while ago...hell I still have 6 unbuilt uppers I need to find barrels and calibers, etc for!
Busted!

The gas block looks awesome IMO, but it is NOT spring loaded. I have to physically grab it and swing it up instead of hitting a release switch. It does have a very solid lock to hold it up, and I have to push a spring loaded button to unlock it and push it back down.

I still need to get a folding back sight to complete my backups so that I am ready for WWZ.

The Nikon M223 BDC looks decent, but I need to take it shooting before I give it a review. I got it from Midway for 239.

For one of your lowers you should consider a 300 Blackout short barrel with suppressor............

One of my best friends in the world flew up at the last second this week and I took him out for a surprise shoot.

He is originally from Carson (Los Angeles), and he has never shot a gun. He LOVED it, and after about 50 rounds he was hitting our 100 yard armor plates at a good rate.

Gun in the pic is a RR 16" AR 15 with TDI rail and Mako GL Shock stock:

If you look in the background there is a tree in front and behind him. There is a ridge about 150 yards beyond the trees that I set up balloons for our 1000 yard shots. At least Kansas is good for something.

I'm looking to get my first AR or AK. I still haven't decided.

I have a question though, what is the difference between a AK74 and AK47? I'm seeing more 74's than 47 lately.

Biggest difference is that the 47 is chambered in 7.62 x 39, and the 74 is chambered in 5.45 x 39.

AK 47 = Big Bullet moving slower, bigger recoil

AK 74 = Small Bullet moving fast, barely any recoil

Mikhail Kalashnikov was pissed when the Soviets went to the 5.56 equivalent when they changed to the AK 74. He said that his weapon was perfect already.

In Vietnam the Reds were shocked at how much damage the little 5.56 bullets were doing, and decided to nearly clone it. The smaller bullet allowed them to carry a lot more ammo, and have much better follow-up shots due to little recoil.

If you want to learn more about AK's, the AK Files is a good place to start.

The migration of Libtards, mainly from California, has been substantial. There are areas of the state that are so out of touch with what made Colorado, Colorado, it's going to hell. Hope & Change, Progression, all that bullshit.

Some people claim they already have their claws in it, but at this rate it's only a matter of time before they get their teeth into the Department of Wildlife.

Otter lives in Durango and he has told me about the same thing. You have to love it when a bunch of useless cockroach bastards show up in your state and **** it up. It's a shame they don't sell tags for that kind of thing.
