Senior Bowl Thread

Weigh ins are in.

QBs largely suck, size-wise. Logan Thomas looks like a Greek god, though.

Tajh Boyd, 6'0", 222, 9 3/8" hand
Derek Carr, 6'2", 215, 9 1/8" hand
Aaron Murray, 6'0", 201, 9 1/8" hand
Logan Thomas, 6'5", 250 lbs, 10 3/4" hand

There were a few other guys as well, but they were all short tiny guys like Boyd, Carr, and Murray.

Sheesh. No physicality in the QBs this year.

1. So bummed for Colvin. I don't have anything in the game on him, just feel bad because it's pretty much the worst timing possible for something like this. Wow.

2. Love Matthews. Yeah, we've already got guys like him in spades. I just see something in him that indicates he'll be productive way beyond his measurable attributes.

3. I wouldn't be a bit upset with Tuitt at 1.23. Yeah I know, it's the D-lineman in the first. But he could really help us get push.

You have to ask the question "if he didn't have Sammy"...

Same goes for Logan Thomas. A set of very limited passers. Thomas goes to his first read or he runs. You can't win with that.

If your goal is to one day develop a quarterback into someone you can win a title with, Boyd and Thomas can get crossed off the list. Jmo.

Havent watched the game really.

But in all honesty, if Demarcus Ware, and Aldon Smith can translate to the nfl as OLB's, I think this kid can.

Agreed. That's why what the Chiefs did last year of getting Bray, and stashing him was such a smart move.

And it will continue to pay off for them. I don't know what anyone will see in Logan Thomas. Although, I think with some good coaching, maybe ending up down in Carolina as a prospect behind Cam could help him out.

But, I see a lot of Kraepernick in him.

Players I really liked from the week of practice (NFL Network broadcast) and then the game.

LB Christian Kirksey – Iowa – 6-2, 234 – 3-4 round pick.
RB Charles Sims – West Virginia – 6-0, 214 3 round
RB Antonio Andrews – Western Kentucky – 5-10, 225 5-6 round
RB Jerick McKinnon – Georgia Southern – 5-9, 209 – 6 round
RB James White – Wisconsin – 5-9, 206 – 5 round
TE Crockett Gillmore – Colorado State – 6-6, 253 – 4-5 round
ILB Chris Borland – Wisconsin – 6-0, 245 – 3 round
DE Dee Ford – Auburn – 6-2, 243 – 1 round
DT – Aaron Donald – Pittsburgh – 6-0, 285 – 1 round
DT – Caraun Reid – Princeton – 6-1, 305 – 4 round
WR – Jordan Matthews – Vanderbilt – 6-3, 209 – 2 round
WR – Kevin Norwood – Alabama – 6-2, 197 – 6 round
CB – Stanley Jean-Baptiste – Nebraska – 6-3, 215 – 3 round
CB – Chris Davis – Auburn – 5-10, 201 – 4 round
CB – Aaron Colvin – Oklahoma – 6-0, 186 – 6-7 round –injury at practice really dropped his draft value.

Draft round projection came from NFLDraftScout.com

Based on their play this week, Chief’s needs, and projected round, I’d go…

1 – Leave that open for best pick available and probably a junior coming out in the draft.
2 – Traded for Alex Smith
3 – CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste
4 – ILB Christian Kirksey
5 – TE Crockett Gillmore
6a – WR Kevin Norwood
6b – CB Aaron Colvin

I realize this does not take care of Chief’s need at WR, DE, FS, and OT, but I think we address some of that with free agents. Keep in mind that this was based on the week of Senior Bowl. Also any other disclaimer I can throw in here.

Justin Houston was 285 lbs. at the combine. His legs looked like tree trunks. No one thought Hali was going to be able to transition to OLB at 275 lbs.

I don't think Ford will have any problems whatsoever in that regard.

There was some strong buzz the past few weeks when people envisioned a 220-plus pound CB coming to town in the form of STAN JEAN-BAPTISTE from Nebraska. He actually checked in at 6-2 3/8” and a rocks olid 215 pounds. That is still a great size, ala the recently retired NNAMDI ASOMUGHA. After eyeballing JEAN-BAPTISTE in drills and 11-on-11, I think eh has some solid similarities to NNAMDI. He is not a ball hawk, and won’t pile up big interception numbers, but he’s good at staying with receivers and deflecting balls away. His 32 3/8”arms certainly help him out in that department. During 11-on-11 he jumped high to break up a potential TD pass to Jared Abbrederis. This player may post some impressive numbers at the combine, and if he does his Draft stock could be rising significantly. Mark him down as a riser right now.

Probably gone before the Chiefs 3rd round pick.

Same thing last year with Jabaal Sheard. No one thought he could which is why the Browns drafted Mingo the Dingo. Should of just drafted fricking Milliner.....

I was going to say this. It is a copy cat league. Hes HUGE, with huge potential.

He wont make it out of the second. With most likely, someone like Seattle, who will be losing Browner, and Thurmond to free agency, probably taking a flyer on him late.

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOOON: SOUTH PRACTICE - No offense to anyone else, but the arrival of CROCKETT GILMORE as a TE replacement has upgraded that position on the South roster. GILMORE had a solid week in St Pete last week and should be counted as the best all-around TE in this game. The 6’5 ½’, 253 pounder can block inline and catch and ramble for YAC. He had several nice catches in today’s practice.
http://www.gbnreport.com/seniorbowlreport.htm

Gillmore did not have spectacular numbers at CSU - 47 catches 577 yards, 2TDs in 2013.

He might still stay in the 4th or 5th round.

I found this info after my posting...

Quote:
KEVIN NORWOOD/WR/Alabama is a smooth athlete and is also showing well this week. He’s not great at any one thing, but can be counted on to do his job and make plays. He was the same kind of player at ‘Bama. On an aborted throwback/WR pass, early in practice, he sailed a nice tight spiral 25 yards down the field. He has nice size at 6’2, 197, and his hands measure just over 10”. Watch for him to make a play or two Saturday in the game.
http://www.gbnreport.com/seniorbowlreport.htm

I still like him, just think he will draft at a higher round.

Western Kentucky ANTONIO ANDREWS was slightly less dynamic than McKINNON but is the total package who has quick cut moves, good acceleration and is an excellent receiver out of the backfield. He too was a headache for the South defenders to corral this afternoon. ANDREWS, along with unheralded Lorenzo Taliaferro of unheralded Coastal Carolina also had outstanding performances in the pass pro drills, as the continually stoned blitzing LBs.

That's crazy he'll be a 2nd round pick. He's a nice player with upside but never watched a Husker game and thought he would be anything more than a 4-5th round guy.
