*.* 2013 General Fitness Thread *.*

Welcome to 2013! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

**From the 2012 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

Never do cardio before lifting if your goal is lifting with any sort of intensity (heavy weight). Burning through some of your glycogen stores and ATP before lifting makes no sense and should never be done...

EVER.

About to go play some pickup basketball for the first time since I broke my ankle.

About to go buy real basketball shoes for ankle support.

I don't know why, but my energy levels were super low today at the gym.

Actually I do know why, because I ate a shitty microwave pretzel at the movie and a beef hot dog on a stick after, then I lifted.

From the first lift I was sweating profusely. I brought a 1.5 L water bottle with me and I swear I had more liquid on my shirt than in my bottle.

After finishing my third set of Leg Press, I attempted one set of Prone Leg Curl and got to about 13 reps and felt it coming. I got up and ran to the nearest trash can and puked out the grossest ****ing corn dog pretzel shit ever and then flopped down onto the ground. No energy left.

There was one other patron in the gym who was yelling to call 911 before I could calm him down. I sat up a few seconds later and had to just sit for 5 minutes before I finally could stand up and leave.

I knew I couldn't finish and that I was spent, but it still feels like I let myself down.

An hour + after the last thing I ate which was the corn dog.

I honestly don't know if it was the food or not. I just felt off from the second I walked in there.

I try not to eat shit food before my workout because it seems to mess with my GI system....I usually get horrendous gas. Many times I workout fasted because of this.

No sweat. We've all had those days.

Eat, rest, recover...then lift again. Keep that cycle.

Thank you guys, you really don't know how much your encouragement means to me. You have been especially helpful lewdog.

I'm sitting here welling up because not 3 weeks ago I was telling myself I couldn't do it. I put off starting a lifting regimen for two months because I was sure I couldn't do it. That's pretty much how I've felt my whole life when it comes to my body and now I am doing it.

Thank you so much and I'm sorry if I ever seem annoying, but I need to discuss it to keep it on the forefront and not let myself get lackadaisical.

And seriously if you are looking for supplements check out thatsupplementguy.com

My package took like 2 extra days before UPS shipped it out from his warehouse so he emailed me and told me he opened it back up and threw in some extra samples because of the two days of waiting and apologized. I could have cared less and didn't even notice.

He threw in over a month's worth of pre-workout samples and two shaker bottles! Dude is legit awesome. Add him on facebook to see when he adds daily specials.
