Killer apps for Android?

Since there's an iPhone version, I figured I'd start a Droid version. After being handcuffed by Sprint's SERO plan for the past two years, I finally ordered my LG Optimus S last night. It'll be here in about 24 hours. So, what toys should I play with when it arrives?

I'm liking it so far. I chose it as my first AOSP because it has Gapps baked in, no separate flash needed. It has the Mason kernel which is really giving me killer battery life.

Thats cool.

I had a hell of a time getting the T-mobile ICS upgrade last night.

Since I was rooted, Kies wouldn't update it.

So, I had to Odin a stock Rom. That meant my phone had to be completely stock, like it right out of the box. Goodbye custom recovery.

Thats the only way Kies would send the update.

You accept OTA updates on your rooted phone?

But it is a non-root app that you flashed back to stock to get? Must be a hell of an app.

Oh, thanks. Guess I could have just looked that up instead of bothering you with it.

I finally bought a new phone, after months of my normal procrastination. I love ICS, and still have plenty to customize before I'm happy (right now everything is driving me crazy).

But one thing I can never figure out is contacts. This drives me crazy on every ****ing android phone I've had. I want my contacts stored on Google. I want only those contacts I create to be there (in other words, if I send someone an email, don't ****ing add them to my contacts). For those contacts I add, I want them to be linked to their other accounts (skype, facebook, etc).

Everyone else, stay the **** out of my contacts. Right now I go to write a new message, click compose, and I get a list of a billion people I barely even know. Where are they pulling these people from? Facebook, twitter, random google places, the yellow pages? Oh my god it drives me crazy. If someone could fix this for me without me having to spend all day researching, I'd seriously love them.

You're doing something wrong because I've never had this issue.

Don't sync Facebook, Twitter, etc. to your Google contacts.

He's right. You need to unsync them all. More a pain in the ass than anything. Also takes up valuable storage room on your phone.

But what am I doing wrong? This should be easy. I've always had this problem on Android, and I've used it for years. I know it shouldn't work like this, but it does.

I'm going to reset and start from scratch. It got messed up first, because I'm on tmobile and they have their contact crap I haven't used for years. And I got on and it immediately synced all of these old numbers I had on from years and years ago.

And even when I deleted those and said only sync my Google Contacts, I still ended up with weird shit. Mattias Duarte was showing up in my contact list, when I specifically told G+ not to sync. And random email addresses. These aren't on my Google Contacts list, where I keep everything. But they still show up... And it's not a skin thing...it happens constantly on stock and on ROMs and on different manufactures. I can't make it work...

I've never been able to get my contact system to work the way I want. It drives me crazy.

I think I've mainly got it sorted out now. The only issue I have left is if I go to messenger, compose, and then people, I get the list of the entire world still. I have Facebook set up to only sync with existing contacts, so I'm not sure why it's pulling all of these people still. So to fix that...

Otherwise, I'm getting happier

[edit]

Seems like this is a known issue no one ever addresses.

Has anyone here partitioned their SD card? Any pointers? Seems like a fairly straight forward process.

I ordered a class 10, 16 GB Amazon Basics sd card today; gonna' partition that bitch and get some extra juice up in here.
