Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

Ruger 10/22s should be issued to every 14-16 year old.

They are great rifles. I have shot 10's of thousands of rounds through mine and it is still extremely accurate.

Yea, they are stronger than what I though they'd be. The Troy sights I wanted were $129 apiece.

Oh yea, I spent $30 on a rail riser for the reflex scope.

Don't buy an expensive "break in" kit. A $8 Walmart cleaning kit is good enough along with some bore cleaner.

Here is a link to a white paper on how to break in a barrel:

http://www.armalite.com/images/Tech%...,%20030205.pdf

I strictly abide by their recommendation, and my rifles are very accurate. Take the time to do it right, plus you will learn how your rifle functions and breaks down.

I was a novice and just loaded my AR up and started shooting it. I doubt I've put 100 rounds through it, but have cleaned the barrel a time or two. I want to tear it down and clean it, but just haven't taken the time to do so.

I think this is overkill. I do frown on people that fire guns they have not cleaned after purchase. And you must clean them throughly after purchase and you must inspect the barrel.

it was for the group. I took mine apart, but a marine buddy says I should only have a smith do it. It wasn't that complicated of a process, but I took the sucker completely apart before I fired it.
