****Official PC vs Console thread****

Well, with the way some threads get going in here, and not wanting to poop in other peoples threads, I figured this is a good way to pass some time.

I wouldn't be mad if a mod went through the last PC V Console posts in the next gen thread and moved them over

I'll start -

I would like to point out the above image that currently the revenue for consoles is currently higher. This is because console games, on average, are nearly twice the price of PC titles.

DISCUSS

edit: I would like to bring conversation in other threads to this thread as they appear, to avoid hijacking legit console or other media threads~

ps4 will get it a year or more from now after its 'done'

As for the graph, its all subjective. Its just an example, and you could change the example around a lot of ways, but the fact remains every time you buy a humble bundle, or a steam sale game, or an india game, you are gaining 20 to 55 dollars on a console in actual cost.

Thats a lot of hardware. You can also say that you wont keep the pc for 7 or 8 years, but you do the console, so why not compare as such?

The reason you don't keep a PC for that long is because you want to upgrade and get a faster system. With console, you dont upgrade, you keep using the same shitty hardware for that 8 year period. You CAN do the same thing with PC. You just DONT so why do it with your CONSOLE (which btw, is a PC)

I run it on my laptop, and it's only a I5-2410M with a 520M graphics card.

Nothing special, but it has no slowdown.

Dell has one HELL of a deal going on a business desktop right now:
http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/de...11052c21697513

I5-3340
8 GB DDR5 ram

$469

Add a graphics card for 100-150 and that is a good system for $600.

What do you think hometeam?

I think you can generally stay away from Dell and do just fine. I built my Asus dominated I7 with a 5770 Asus card and 8 gb of ram 3 + years ago for $550. It's still going strong today, and I would suggest you build your own.

Thanks.

I am probably going to do the deal we talked about in the other thread that included the 8350 and Radeon 7850.

I just found out the Dell has a weak power supply. Nevermind.

Midrange nvidia card from last generation. Should be good for max on all but a few games. Probably not good enough for ultra settings at high res.

Oh np, and don't be afraid to do it yourself. If you are unsure just have a friend help you through the first time. It's easier than ever to build your own system. Heck pop a youtube vid up of someone doing it. You will save money and be able to replace bad parts/upgrade anytime you want.

Dont get a 660, get a 760. The 760 is a rebadged 670 (what I have) and its like 10 or 20 dollars more than a 660 for about as much % in performance. Though even a 660 is more powerful than ps4 or xbone~

Physically build it.. its like putting together high tech legos. Its extremely easy. laughably easy. If you are going to order a boutique PC you might as well have me build it, I can do customer watercooling loops too, just wont charge near as much~

I built a game rig to specifically play Half-Life 2 when it came out 10 years ago. It was unbelievably easy.
