****Official Royals Vs Rays Gamethread 5/2****

Guthrie on the mound. Lets get the brooms out

Bad Mojo here, but I think I'm 0-4 in gamethreads for a sweep over the last 2 years. But I need to get the first loss of the year out of the way

well, they needed 6 more outs. I'm sure we would have gone up there hacking in the bottom of the 4th to hurry things up.

You mean the lineup had got to Frenchy/Moose/Getz?

it was postponed in the middle of the 4th, we weren't up to bat yet.

Unless we can get a waiver from the player's union, we'll probably end up losing a home game and have to make it up in Tampa Bay. We'll have 80 home games, and they'll get to have 82.
If I were the Royals I'd refuse to play the game on the road if that's what mlb suggests doing. In years past it didn't make a difference, but if we're competing for anything we should absolutely refuse to play a home game on the road. That crap never happens to Boston or New York.

So like 15 minutes. It's just silly that they'd call a game where they have less than 30 minutes to go to make it official. If Tampa ties it, then sure, go ahead and call it, but a team had a lead and you're literally minutes away from making it official just seems like you should go ahead an try and get it in.

I was at the game. The field was completely unplayable when the umpires finally decided to call for the tarp. I want the Royals to win as much as anyone, but it would have been a travesty to force the game to continue just to try to get one more inning in to make it official. If the Royals had been BEHIND 1-0 instead of ahead, we'd be screaming about the unfairness of it.

Simplest makeup would be Monday, June 3rd. Rays and Royals both have an off day. Royals are coming off a trip @Rangers and set up to host the Twins. The Rays are finishing a trip in Cleveland and headed to Detroit. Keep the game in KC...make it happen MLB.

In which case the Royals would play 32 days in a row

It violates the CBA. We'd need a waiver from the player's union. Hopefully they give us one.

It seems crazy to me that they even decided to play this game. I mean...look outside.

It was obvious that they were going to try. There's a good chance that the Royals lose a home game, or at the very least that the Rays are forced to make an extra trip and players from both teams give up a mandatory off day.

Both teams had a lot of incentive to get it in, they weren't going to stop unless the umpires forced them to stop.
